I'm just curious, did you give money to Louisville when you were in Conference USA 1.0?

As one of many donors that pay thousands every year for basketball and football tickets, I would voice my displeasure by no longer supporting the university. I would venture to guess that the majority of Louisville's nearly 50,0000 season ticket holders would feel the same way.

I would rather keep my money and see Louisville shut down the program then not try to compete at the highest level. I have a feeling I am not alone.

As some one on the Louisville board said this morning. If Louisville ends up in Conference USA 2.0, they won't see another nickel from me. I won't pay BCS prices for a non-BCS league. I agree with that. Without Boise The Big East has no chance to keep its AQ.
CJ

So did they not receive a nickel from you prior to joining the Big East?

WVU as far as athletics go is a northeastern school. It's been playing primarily northeastern schools for 50 years plus. However, your point is still very valid. Adding Temple helps a bit in that regard. Adding Navy definitely helps a bit in that regard. Army would too.

I understand your frustrations as a Southern Miss fan. But your put-downs of the service academies don't really make you look too good, Eagle.

Not a put down of the service academies what so ever, it is more a shot at the TOTAL and COMPLETE INEPTITUDE of the leadership in Providence and their idea of solutions to a HUGE and WIDENING crater.

Hell, it was hard to even comment after laying the lumber to Navy on Saturday, the Academies truly represent the spirit of what should be college football, but that alone does not bring credibility of rankings to a conference.

Having two schools 8 miles apart has killed the ACC. Duke and UNC will never be able to compete in basketball.

RE: BE to add SIX schools according to meeting today.. who are they?
BE as currently constituted is 8 BB (including ND) and 6 all sports. They will need to add 2 all sports to get the required 8 for FBS qualification. This is by no means my preference but having watched this BE mess for years now, my guess is:

1. UCF and Temple all-sports 2012 (sticks to current footprint, retains PA presence and buffs up FL presence),

2. Add 4 FB-onlies to get 12 FB and 16 BB (the Services Academies in 2012 and Villanova in 2015 (already in BB so its FB-only add and likely is the price for Temple's admission).

BTW-I live in the Phily area but went to a certain school in a non-NE conference that has really boring uniforms and am so sick of my Villanova and Temple friends talking about and fighting over this BE crap, so I cannot wait until this is over.

So in other words, no. You didn't give money when UL was in CUSA, until you heard they were moving to the BE.

Not trying to be disrespectful. I have watched ECU for a lot of years. The team that came to Houston on Saturday was slow and not very athletic. Ruff better start recruiting some athletes. I hope he does. I like ECU but that offense they are running requires speed and a good QB with athletes at the skill positions.

RE: BE to add SIX schools according to meeting today.. who are they?
From the official Big East statement:

Quote:On a teleconference earlier today, our Presidents and Chancellors authorized the BIG EAST Conference to engage in formal discussions with additional institutions and are considering moving to a model that includes 12 football playing schools.

That's even more wishy-washy. "Considering" 12 football playing schools is a long way from committing to add six to the existing six, or adding eight to four if two leave, etc. That's like saying they are "considering" increasing the exit fee.

No I started buying season tickets in 1985. The only promise they gave us was we were building for something better. If that's what you mean you are correct.

This current team sucks there is no denying it. And as you can see by my sig I am not happy with Ruff. Getting left out and being in a much worse C-USA is so much worse than an embarrassing loss or a bad season, it's a program crushing blow. It's the type of thing that basically tells us everything we have done to try to build ourselves up for this point was a waste and we would have been just as well served to take 100 million and set it on fire.

RE: BE to add SIX schools according to meeting today.. who are they?
From Brett McMurphy at cbssports.com:

Big East wants 12 members, but who will it get?

Even with the league holding a second conference call in four days among officials from representative from the remaining Big East schools, there wasn’t much accomplished said one frustrated individual on the call.

“Nothing accomplished,” he said.

So there you go boys and girls. The same ole, same ole out of the Big East. Anyone surprised about their continued indecisiveness?

RE: BE to add SIX schools according to meeting today.. who are they?
Army is not interested. I know the BIG EAST for some reason is dead set against ECU, but to go forward they need ECU. I would issue invites to in this order.

1. ECU - makes too much sense.
2. SMU - they want a Texas team. SMU is returning to glory, and as great academics.
3. Houston - football and basketball are excelling again. Great travel partner.
4. Central Florida - huge enrollment = huge alumni base= huge tv ratings (in the future) Unlimited potential in the hot Florida recruiting beds.
5. Temple football improving always strong basketball.
6. Memphis Strong basketball football will come around. Every team has down cycles their's just really down.

No service academies all though they have great academics.
