Memphis has had over 50 years to field a respectable football program and didn't do squat until the last two years. Also save me the weapy competitive disadvantage crap, because Memphis doesn't play in a state that has three recent national champions.
And what has USF done? 'Potential'?

Quote:Jackson,

I hope you take this the right way but with that comment you showed a real disconnect with the issue. Coming from a league with no BCS access to a league with BCS access and moving around between BCS leagues are on ENTIRELY different levels. I could care less about VPI, BC or the ACC. I'm just glad that if Louisville wins this conference we are going to the Sugar, Fiesta, Orange or Rose with an outside shot at the championship should we run the table. For all intents and purposes that was impossible in our former league

-- You are right in saying that I have no idea what it is like to have my school "living on the other side of the tracks" when it comes to having BCS access etc...but the point I was trying to make is that the actions of the BE regarding USF were not extradonary during this round of expansion....rarely was the program with the best history or even the best program taken....BC was nothing more then a 5th place team in the old BE, but that got selected over Pitt who was won what....7 national chamionships in football or Syacuse which is much better then BC in football and bball.....this round of expansion came down to markets....ACC took BC....BE took USF....CUSA took the worst program in the MAC (UCF) over schools like Miami of OH or La Tech

I don't know what is your problem but I really don't care. Most BE fans, especially Louisville fans have been very supportive of USF's addition b/c they understand the rationale for our selection.

USF was the best choice for the open slot created by BC's defection to the ACC. There were not exactly any Miami's available to add, so the conference added the University that brought the best total package to the table.

Neither the addition of Memphis, ECU, UCF or USF was going to replace Miami. Thus when you consider : academic mission, market, facilities, recruiting center and recent football success USF won out in every category.

I am not going to apologize for USF "potential". We have had football less than 10 years and now we are in a BCS conference....we must be doing something right.

Cyber, It doesn't matter how or why you got into the club! Just win 8 plus games a year & all the naysayers will call Trainedgeese a genious for seeing a diamond in the rough. I honestly hope your program enjoys success & grows. Good Luck!
