What is the deal with all the dissin of USF? I dont understand it. USF fans seem to be very classy for the most part. I just dont see why there are so many that dont like USF in the BE. I think it was a tossup between them and UCF. I could have gone with either.

But USF is in the BE and we have to deal with it. I think that many of you will be eating your words, starting this year about the Bulls.

Welcome to the BE USF.

I don't know bambu, looks to me if she puts her arms down that beer gut will spill over the front of her skirt. She needs to tighten it up a bit imo.

rocketfootball, do you have number for those? How many are in the booster club?
How are your other sports? Basketball and Olympic sports
Athletic fundraising for the 2003-04 calendar year - $1.6 million

Marketing and sponsorship revenue - cash was just over $2.1 million in the 2003-04 calendar year and trade was about $700K for the 2003-04 calendar year

Not sure how many boosters we have. We do have a few wealthy boosters, but not many. Last year a retired booster donated just over $1 million to have our tennis courts and outdoor track renovated.

Men's basketball was 3rd in the MAC in attendance for the last 5 years, averaging 5,061 fans per game. Back in the 80's we used to average about 10K per game, but that number has slowly declined.

Women's basketball led the MAC in attendance for the last 5 years, averaging 2,491 fans per game.

Our arena, Savage Hall, seats about 10K but is quite old. A plan is in place to renovate the arena in the next couple of years.

Our men's basketball team is 88-64 since 2000. We have won the MAC West Division Title 3 times in the last 7 years and finished in 2nd place or better 6 of the last 7 years. We have played in the NIT 3 times since 1999 (1999, 2001, and 2004). Our basketball program is still not where it was in the late 70's and early 80's when we appeared in the NCAA tournament a couple of times and even advanced to the Sweet 16 in 1981. We are a long way from competing with the top teams in the Big East. However, we did beat Cincinnati in the Rock-N-Roll Shootout back in 2000. We also beat a ranked Michigan State, in East Lansing, in 2002.

Our women's basketball team ruled the MAC in the 90's and played in the NCAA's several times, but have been rebuiling a bit the last few years. Here are some recent records:

1995-96 - 25-6 (won MAC)
1996-97 - 27-4 (won MAC)
1997-98 - 24-7 (2nd in MAC)
1998-99 - 25-6 (won MAC)
1999-00 - 14-15
2000-01 - 25-6 (won MAC)
2001-02 - 17-11
2002-03 - 20-10 (2nd MAC)
2003-04 - 13-16
2004-05 - 15-15

We appeared in the NCAA's 6 times and the WNIT 3 times in 10 years of the 90's with a 237-74 overall record, the 13th best record in the country during the decade.

Our baseball and softball teams are not very good, but last year an indoor practice facility was constructed for those teams.

Our men's golf team has made it to the NCAA regionals 7 times in the last 8 years (this year was the one time we didn't make it). They have made the NCAA finals 4 times in the last 7 years (1999, 2001, 2002, and 2004).

The rest of our sports haven't been very good.

silly non-bcs fan ( mourning over his lot in life, 'cause some nitwit fan of a school(he didn't even graduate from) tells him he should:

See? Look how good we are. 04-deal You guys have the power!! Let us in!

anon BE internet fan ( typing away in his underwear while munching chee-tos) :

We DO have the power. Tell us more
about your little school. And by the way, what tier are you?

So Bambu which one are you? Look you are over here posting on this board just like I am on the Memphis and CUSA boards from time to time. It is fun to talk about, no one is saying that they have the "power" to change things or are trying to get people to suck up to them. It is just a fun topic for people. If you don't care then don't post about it.
I was just trying to make a funny observation. I'm interested in the BE because it
now has schools that Memphis has a 50-60 year history with. But I feel it's pointless
for me to try to "pitch" Memphis to the BE on a message board. Wouldn't you agree?

(no offense if you were in your underwear, eating chee-tos. if it makes you feel better
I can edit my skit so that the non-bcs beggar is doing the same  )

And I think I have been a lot more tactful and polite over here than some of the BE fans
on the Tiger or CUSA boards, since you seem to think I'm somehow being disrespectful?
( a thread about the CSTV deal with CUSA went 3 or 4 posts deep before a Card fan came
along and shat on it, and it turned into an "our deal is better" pissing match  )

I usually only post here when Memphis is being talked about.

Is that cool with you?
1. I am in my Underwear, sue me it's 10 pm.
2. I hate Cheetoes(?)
3. I wasn't trying to jump on your case I was defending others rights to discuss the topic, just like I would defend yours.

So yeah it's fine with me.

I don't understand the hostility towards them either. The only thing I can see is that people are either jealous of South Florida's spot in the Big East, or feel that they didn't earn their way into the Big East. Either way, I could care less about those people, South Florida is a member of the Big East, and a deserving member of the Big East, and we will need them and others to step up to add depth to the conference and make it a legit power conference once again.

i think the Big East needs to drop the whole Norte Dame...Penn State thing...it will NEVER happen.

the Big East needs to create a 9 or 12 team all sport conference...and since the new trend seems to be the 12 team conference here is my idea. (too bad it doesn't mean anything.)

the new - new Big East

Louisville
Cincy
USF
Pitt
WVU
Rutgers
UConn
Cuse
-------
Memphis - natural rivals with UL, UC...good football and bball
UCF - natural rival with USF...basketball has been to back to back NCAA's
Marshall - natural rivals with WVU...good football tradition
ECU - Large fan base...good geographic fit

now if all the teams in the Big East can get over their dislikes for regional rivals (WVU - Marshall or USF - UCF) or dislike for old rivals (UL - Memphis) then we could make one hell of a conference.

of course no one uses that whole logic thing anymore.

Go Tigers!!!

yeah pretty much the only reasons i can think of either, that and the fact we have a direction in our title, sorry fellas university of tampa was already taken can't do anything about that now. i think you all will be pleasantly surprised with usf, word is our new qb is playing lights out in practice, take that for what you will but he was a superprep all american coming out of high school and a four star prospect, so he's got talent. and if this year doesn't pan out we're leading for schaeffer. add in a great home schedule and no weekday/11am games and our attendance will surprise a bunch of you (unless we have a hurricane season like year). happy to be in the big east, hope we make the conference proud.

And our resident troll is still here. Don't be mad that many want OUT of C-USA. I can't blame them, that whole Rice, Tulsa and SMU Western Athletic feel just flat out stinks.

I'd rather have Rice and SMU than Louisville and Cincinnati. That said, the continous talk of expansion just tells anyone that there is nothing much going on to talk about. you can read this board a month from now and the posts will be almost exactly the same. Posts about who is playing QB at Louisville would be more interesting than baseless expansion verbage.

Why are you over here. You much rather play SMU or Rice, that your choice. Houston/Rice has NOTHING to do with the Big East, we don't play you and I doubt we will see you on a Big East schools schedule.

You really don't have any purpose over here.

That has NOTHING to do with Rice/Houston. I guess you like hanging out with universities that actually have fanbases and doesn't play in renovated HS Stadiums .

I think we played rice in reliant stadium, and will be playing Oregon there as well. I note that we did not move the Louisville game to Reliant, why was that?

Don't really care about Houston, you mean NOTHING to me. To me Houston is just a has been program that plays most of their games in a renovated HS Stadium.

Louisville on the other hand is just fine and dandy. I don't post on ANY C-USA board and I am happy that TJ has decided to go ahead and payoff C-USA so we don't have to associate with such riff raff ever again and if we do play C-USA schools it will be on OUR terms.

C-USA schools don't deserve Home and Home series, we will play you on a 2 for 1 basis.
