SU Field Problem
Silly thought - but I remember when the new field turf was installed a few years ago, they said that the on-field "paint' was actually part of the field. For example, the orange "S" in the center actually contained orange threads, rather than green. The endzone contained blue threads intstead of green.

While I"m sure not a major obstacle. What will it take to elimate the "Big East" logo and replace it with the "ACC" logo? Will they have to replace the turf. I think back to 2004 when the dropped the "men" in "Orangemen". They spraypainted green over the "men" and it looked awful.

As a bonus, will the "ACC" logo be anything more than white? Florida State and VT, for example, have a maroon outline to the ACC logo. It would be nice to see that in orange.

We'll have a completely new field IMO. Instead of a white Big East logo. It'll be and orange ACC logo with a white outline. The S in the middle of the field will be orange with a white outline. The endzone's will be orange with white "SYRACUSE" and "ORANGE in them. "New York's College Team" will be in white somewhere on the field.

I also see new uniforms. Hopefully we go back to the McNabb era helmets.

I'd also like to see alternate orange tops.

It is a silly thought.

IMO, there's a better chance you'll see a new coach before you see new turf.

Can't they just cut those pieces out? I have no idea how these fields are put together, admittedly.

I know the new meadowlands stadium does this to quickly change between Giants and Jets, and you can tell. However, I believe our field does not come up at all. When they installed it, they had to invest in a floor material to place over the field for basketball games. The old astro turf would be rolled up for basketball.

When they installed the new field, the new Big East logo was always part of it, so I'd assume it is the same as any other part of the field. However, the "Ernie Davis Legends Field" text was added later and is probably paint.

That just sounds weird. How could they have been so short sighted as to put a permanent artificial surface down? Surely there is a way to change it without breaking the bank.
