That's a smart thing for the city of Pittburgh to do, getting more usage out of such a big investment. But you have to admit though, the experience is just not the same when the stadium is off campus. That's what I like about Nippert, it's located right smack in the center of campus, nestled naturally into the hillside.

I do agree that campus fields are the best. The problem here is that Pitt has very LITTLE land left to expand on. Where the old Pitt stadium sat, the new basketball arena (The Pete) now sits. Pitt currently has no fields for their soccer teams and track and field teams because of no room. These teams either have all away games or use high school staduims for their games. Pitt is currently trying to purchase land where old housing for the city sat but politics between from city is putting a hold on it for now. Pitt is hoping to get the land for a new soccer and track field and new dorms.

-- I loved the atmosphere of old Pitt staduim...you could just feel the history.....Backyard Bawls at Three Rivers and Heinz Field just haven't been the same
