I think its more about the 96 year tradition that Pitt has been trying to rekindle. At one time it was a huge game - the battle of the state - and one of the oldest and longest rivalries in college football. (even though it's not seen as a big deal to non Pitt/PSU fans). Unfortunatly, It seems to be even less of importance as each year goes by without the two school playing. But to the people in the area, they still thrive for the two schools to once again hit the gridon again. Should they let it go?...well....maybe, but it is hard to give up 96 years of tradition. Also, this issue goes a lot deeper then just the game between Pitt/PSU. It deals with.....Joe Pa and/Pitt.....and the forming of the original BE/Joe Pa/and Pitt....another thing to keep in mind is that Joe Pa is basically the only one left around from when the Big East was being formed and he still takes what happend to heart....Sorry this is sloppy...but in a hurry....I will try to answer any questions later on......Hail to Pitt

Oh I think SU, RU, TU, and certainly WVU fans all know what the Pitt/PSU series means. Especially WVU being the third player in that tirumvate.

-- I understand.....believe me I would have been overjoyed to see the WVU/PSU series restart as well...but I am always amazed that Joe Pa wants 2 for 1s from both our schools.....we have been playing one for ones for decades and the only difference I see between now and the last time WVU/PSU played (1992)....is that the WVU foootball program is a little better and the PSU program is a lot worse....the arrogance is amazing...Pitt can get a one and one from Notre Dame and WVU can get a one and one from Flordia St but neither can get the same deal from a PSU program that is having trouble putting back to back winning seasons together

-- All I was saying is that if PSU is so horrified by the idea of playing Pitt one for one in football...then the Panthers should just drop the bball series all together...or better yet....come out publicly and say if PSU wants the hoops series to continue they need to give Pitt a 2for 1

If Pitt/PSU ever have so-so years but still Bowl Eligible, it would be GREAT if one of the lower bowls would invite BOTH Teams to play!!

Regardless how "small" that Bowl was....I bet it would still sellout (something almost NONE of the small Bowls do).

If I was a Bowl President...and had a Big 10 vs open invite...or Big East vs open invite...and if there is an eligible still left on the plate (PSU or Pitt), that would be one SWEET GAME!!

Just like if Marshall ever takes on WVU in a Bowl Game.

Instant sellout and great pub!

Still have a better chance playing in a Bowl Game with each other....especially because neither has a game schedule with each other during the regular season in the near future.

I agree with what you said Jackson. It seems that PSU still has this idea that they are a top 20 team and "make" teams like Pitt/WVU go for a 2 for 1 to play their elite team, so they end up with teams like Temple. IMO, I just really think Joe Pa has a serious problem w/ playing teams from the BE ( they do play some BE teams from time to time). I see how they jumped on Temple now that Temple is no longer a BE member. And to the Rutgers fan, I didnt mean to say that the original memebers from the BE did not see the importance of the old Pitt/PSY rival. I was saying that "most people" and maybe even our new members may not see the importance of it. Anyways, good luck to all our teams in the NBE...we need to kick some OOC azz this year. Get the respect back to the BE.

Hail to Pitt
