You may well choke on that softball. You and the rest of the Big East fans had better hope the Florida kids, that we have been recruiting, do not deceide to stay in Florida and play for USF! Louisville football has been built on Florida kids.
It’s been built on Alabama kids and the studs from Louisville/Kentucky are taking it to the next level. Sure we get some kids from Florida and some have done well for us but still what I've said holds true. FAU and FIU both have more potential than anyone in the nation if I follow your reasoning. I don't claim to know more than anyone in sports but I think its ridiculous to try and punk out Syracuse with some lame USF smack. In fact I happen to agree with the Syracuse fan on this one. They have done NOTHING Wilkie in either sport! I don't know how you can argue anything in favor of them other than they make a nice road trip. They have bad attendance and a piss poor basketball program. I attended our last football game in Tampa and met more FSU and Florida fans at the game than USF fans. Get a grip my man.

Every time I think about our expansion situation, I’m pissed at Boston College put us in this situation that we have to take South Florida (I don’t hate USF). We could keep everything in North East region if not for that CHICKEN SH-T BC administration. Now I’ m reading about people pushing ECU, Memphis AND UCF. WTF, you want people take our conference seriously then think bigger. We take USF because that SH-T of NCAA rule require all I-A conference to have eight members.

Football is not the ONLY sport you play in a conference. All those non-revenue sports are very expensive when they do nothing but consume. I don’t want hear any fan complain about high donation for their seat or season ticket just went up. There are reasons why conferences expand with in their footprint.

Get over yourself....

USF has gone from not owning footballs just 9 years ago to beating programs like Pitt, Southern Miss and UL. Nobody has said USF is finished product but it would be a mistake to overlook USF. We have been recruiting well the last two years, but more importantly are building a solid foundation for success without shortcuts.

Let's put it this way your own AD was so impressed with what USF has done and our potential that he put his reputation on the line by speaking up for USF for a Big East membership.

BTW, if you are going to use the "what have they done" logic then you can say the same thing about UCONN who was born into BCS membership. Ditto for Rutgers and until lately Pitt had done nothing until Walt Harris turned the program around.

IMO, there are going to be no friendly rivalries.

Most old Big East programs are either resentful of the new programs (see Pizza U comments) or outright hostile (see anti-USF propaganda). They will view the newbies as "inferior" even though if it's not based in reality. The biggest issue is that when they see programs like UL, USF and UC they see more of themselves in our programs than they do when they compare themselves to programs like Miami or other 'bigtime'. programs. It's really a disservice to themselves considering all the tradition the remaining programs have like WVU and Pitt. As a consequence they lash out irrationally when they should really be preaching conference solidarity b/c without the new programs they would essentially be back to the days of eastern independents.

Sorry for such a pessimistic view but that is the way I see things shaping up. Maybe I'll be wrong....but I doubt it. Nothing wrong with passionate, hateful rivalries.... ;^)

Unfortunately for Wilkie01, I smell and upset coming in this fall's Syracuse win over Louisville.

Louisville has been good for the past couple of years and has potential to remain good now that the team is in the Big East. But c'mon! Attitudes like Wilkie01's always lead to disappointing seasons for the boasting fans.

As far as potential, I don't know if it is accurate to say that USF has more potential than any other BE football team. There are too many variables that come into play. Just like New Jersey (Rutgers) and Florida (USF), Ohio is also a talent rich area for Cincinnati. I think all schools have much potential and hopefully each school will realize its potential and become perennial top 25 teams.

Go Big East!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Go Bearcats!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Definig Rivalries: How Do You Define Them?

A Friendly Rivalry: When you root against a team only when your team is playing that team.

A Hated Rivalry: When you root against a team even when it is not playing your team.

Hopefully all BE teams will have friendly rivalries.
04-cheers
