Right now I project the only bowl eligble team that won't be bowling is Miami (FL), which is self-imposing a bowl ban ahead of formal sanctions from the NCAA. There are four potential flies in the ointment:

Hawaii - The Warriors need a win over BYU, which would could send Louisiana Tech or Utah State eastward-the WAC champion is formally tied to the Potato Bowl, but the WAC could send Louisiana Tech to New Orleans if the New Orleans Bowl would prefer them over a MAC team.

UCLA - UCLA is projected to lose the Pac 12 Championship Game to Oregon and finish at 6-7. UCLA would need a waiver from the NCAA to participate in a bowl game, but the NCAA may not give that to them. If UCLA doesn't get the waiver, it could leave as many as 3 bowl slots open.

Connecticut - UConn needs a win over Cincinnati to finish 6-6. Since Notre Dame can take up a Big East bowl, 1-2 of Connecticut, the winner of the Pittsburgh/Syracuse game, or even South Florida could be in the at-large pool.

South Floria - The Bulls need a win over #23 West Virginia. If USF pulls it off, the Big East champion would be unranked for the second year in the row.

Are you an idiot or just stupid? If you're going to make predictions, at least know the rules that each conference has for their bowl selection.

As I told you last week, the ACC has a 1 Game Rule that states a bowl game can bypass a team in the selection process only if the two teams in question are within one game of each other in the overall ACC standings. UNC has the worst conference record amongst ACC bowl-eligible teams at 3-5. That means they cannot be selected ahead of the 5-3 ACC teams like GT, Virginia, and Wake Forest.

So if you want to save face and be taken even a wee bit seriously, accept the fact that UNC will be playing in the Military Bowl - the bowl that selects last in the ACC bowl pecking order.

If LSU and Alabama end up in the BCS Championship game, 2 SEC teams will be taken up by that game. Stanford would come in as an at-large team, assuming the Sugar Bowl invites WVU over Boise...

Because this BCS crap that the AQ conferences (SEC included) were soooo happy to put in place to help eliminate competition in the NCAA football market only allows a conference to send 2 teams to play in their games.

(The only way it could happen is if LSU loses to UGA, but still remains #2. UGA would be in Sugar as the SEC champ. LSU/Bama for MNC. No possible scenario that Arkansas gets into a BCS game.)

The selection order for the BCS Bowls will be as follows, presuming the Sugar Bowl loses LSU to the national championship game:

1) Sugar (replacement pick for SEC Champion ranked #1) [Stanford - AQ as #4 in final BCS Standings]
2) Fiesta [Houston - highest ranked non-AQ Conference champion; Oklahoma State automatically assigned as the Big 12 champion]
3) Sugar [West Virginia - Big East champion]
4) Orange [Boise State as an at-large selection - Virginia Tech automatically assigned as the ACC champion]

If LSU wins the SEC, Alabama holds at #2, Houston wins Conference USA, and Stanford finishes as #3 or #4, there is only one true at-large slot. Arkansas is not eligible (third team in the SEC), so therefore Boise State would be the highest ranked team available. Georgia and South Carolina would also not be availble (fourth and fifth team in the SEC), which leaves the higher ranked of Kansas State/Oklahoma and Michigan State/Michigan.
