RE: Pitt's Coach...
The problem is that this isn't Pederson's fault.

The bigger problem, though, is that Pederson has shown such piss poor judgment in the past with football hires that you have to wonder if he's the right guy to right this ship.

I think the answer is a big fat no.

Now the question is, will Pitt open the wallet again after just getting burned on spending more (in recent memory)?

The next few weeks should be quite interesting for us Panthers.

Pitt will get their pound of flesh out of this debacle. I believe TG's contract has a buyout, and when you combine that with the major dick move that ASU made, someone or some institution will be paying. My guess is we will have all coaching salaries paid by ASU for the 2011 season. Thanks guys!

I have no witty comeback, so here's a picture of two cats in teacups.

RE: Pitt's Coach...
As far as a replacement I would take a look at interim Illinois HC Vic Koenning. He was a DC under Tommy Bowden and did an outstanding job. Rumor has it he got a little miffed when he wasn't named interim HC when they fired Bowden and left at the end of the season to be the co-DC at Kansas State, where he played. He had a horrible record as HC at Wyoming in three seasons, but has worked as DC at three BCS programs (Clemson, Kansas State, and Illinois) since, doing a great job at all three.

He's the interim HC for the bowl game but not going to be retained by incoming Illinois HC Tim Beckman, a mistake in the opinion of many Illinois fan's opinions, so he will be available to get started recruiting fairly quickly.

How about June Jones? He's looking to make a move.

He's worth a look IMO. I think the candidates most likely to land at Pitt are going to be the more local guys or guys with strong ties to Pitt. Teryl Austin, Sal Sunseri, (gulp) Tom Bradley.

I hope Pitt gives serious consideration to Mark Stoops, Mario Cristobal and Bud Foster.

If I had to venture a prediction right now, I would bet that Sal Sunseri will get the gig. I think he could work out well and should have learned some good stuff rubbing elbows with Saban.

Bill Cowher is available. Doesn't he still have a home in Pittsburgh?

RE: Pitt's Coach...
From the Cardiac Hill blog. This was reportedly on TG Wikipedia page before someone changed it. I can't confirm that but it still pretty funny.

"Todd Graham (born December 5, 1964 in Mesquite, Texas) is the head football coach of the Arizona State Sun Devils.[1] He was previously the head coach of the Tulsa Golden Hurricanes and the Pittsburgh Panthers. He also has family near every Division I college campus, while also possessing a dream of coaching at all of them, which gives him a convenient excuse every time he bails on a program after less than two years. Known for his high octane offense, as well as his honor and integrity. Just ask him."

Would Pitt ever consider taking a look at a Bud Foster or Calvin McGee? I think both might make interesting Head Coaches...?

I strongly doubt Calvin Magee would get a look. I'd like Pitt to interview Foster, but I'm guessing it's not going to happen.

Right now, Pitt has interviewed Luke Fickell yesterday (interim OSU HC and DC), Mario Cristobal today (current FIU HC) and Paul Chryst is scheduled for tomorrow (current Wisky OC). No idea who else will be interviewed, but I wouldn't be surprised if this is it and Pitt ends up with one of these 3 being announced by next week.

I actually wouldn't be surprised if Pitt winds up with someone who isn't even on that list. Haywood came out of nowhere.

Looking like Luke Fickell just may be the next HC at Pitt.

Told ya.

Tressel is going to have to work in the NFL for at least the next 5 years.

I don't think they were going to hire Tressel regardless. Pitt notoriously low balls people and they just weren't going to pay the price to get him to Pitt.
