Which conference loses out? He is correct--if the Catholics create a new league it'll be granted a waiver and given a bid immediately. There would be another playin game.

Earth to Jackspn...it was never planned. It was discussed for a short period of time and rejected as a bad idea.

This might happen, or they might go to two play-in games between smaller conferences - expanding the field to 66.

Cheers,

Mike Tranghese can try all he wants, but if he actively fights the football schools in their attempt to split then he's going to be in SERIOUS trouble. A splits going down, there's no doubt about it. Tranghese is spinning or lying. I remember when expansion first came down and he said that the Big East hadn't talked to or even discussed Louisville. But it was already pretty much decided at the time that Louisville AND Cincinnati were coming so I don't care what he says about a split.

How much more clear do they have to be.? he is the frickin commissioner of the league...he speaks for the schools in the league.

two years ago goofball.....they discussed it for three weeks and rejected it as a stupid idea not knowing that their stupid fans would pick it up and keep it going for 20 frickin years. Go back nfl and read what the man said a few days ago, if you can read, and get on with your life.

It was discussed. Show me ANYWHERE in the Big East papers where it says they will not split. Mikey T will NOT be commissioner of the New Big East Football Conference or whatever its called. He has said if they split he will step aside. the 16 team marriage is one of convenience, nothing more. The football playing schools have agreed not to split for 5 seasons. During the 5 seasons the football playing Big East schools for all practical purposes are taking auditions for from 1 to 4 football slots. Members of CUSA-East know this. Every one of them has eyes for the Big East. CUSA has hurt itself by adding too many weak Texas schools from the WAC. ECU, Memphis, USM, Marshall and UCF will all apply for membership to get away from the WAC schools. CUSA West schools can take solice in knowing BB will then add North Texas, Texas-SA and any other Lone Star State team he can find.

I agree 100%. However, I do not think the erginal 5 BE Schools will let 4 more CUSA schools be added because they would be down 7 to 5 for voting purposes.
