Although that gentleman's only goal was to try to mock the BE football schedule and cause trouble....I do think he pointed out nicely that there is a need for a pre 2010 football only member for our league

I agree Jackson.
We need a football-only school NOW!!!
Hopefully, this issue is on the agenda for the May meeting of the Big East.

I definitely agree. If you look at UC's schedule, a 9th Big East football school would have completely eliminated the need for Western Carolina. We would have only had to play non-conference games with Miami-OH, Penn State and Eastern Michigan.

If we bring in a 9th member in the near future I nominate Memphis. Put them in Football only status with a guarantee spot for Full Membership either when a split happens or if the BE stays together.
MVC or A-10 Basketball will be just as good if not better then the current C-USA starting in 2005-2006.

If that happens, lets hope that Brittany used the same vague language as he did for the exit fees for you all!

You all should ought not to have f*ed with Jurich when we tried to leave in the first place.
But seriously, Memphis needs to get with the Big East or you are going to get shafted in the CUStexAs.

I would much rather see WVU continue the series with Virginia Tech or try and renew the Penn State games than be forced to play East Carolina or Memphis on a home and home basis.
I know, Memphis is better than Wofford, but I don't think it's the best move long term for the Big East. And I don't think it'll happen.

-- NFL sucks....would you be more open to the idea of a football only member if the 12 game season passes? I'm worried that in 2006 the BE football schools will have two "woffords" on each schedule instead of one

Contract said one year's notice, you gave 9 months. What about that did Jurich not understand?
Contract also reads that Louisville has to play two CUSA teams, with part of that requires us to play Memphis..
We can play those games too!

12 game schedule (if passed) will cause real trouble without at least a 9th school.
In fact, a 10th school might be necessary under a 12 game schedule.
With 8 schools you only have 7 conference games, leaving you with 5 ooc games to contract.
9 schools gives you 8 conference games requiring 4 ooc games.
10 schools gives you 9 conference games and 3 ooc games.
11 schools gives you 10 conference and 2 ooc games. Possibly. Would the Big 10/11 do this? Possibly. That would give them 5 home conference games. Then they can schedule one and possibly two home ooc games.
Having to schedule so many ooc games puts the Big East at a competitive disadvantage because there aren't enough quality opponents out there without dipping into aa.
