I ask this because the rumors that made the rounds was the Chaney played a large part in Temple not going to the MAC or C-USA. Now that that crazy old bastard has lost his mind and credibility I wonder what the chances of Temple going to the MAC are? Temple blew it by not trying to go to C-USA. The basketball might not be better then the A-10, then again who really knows, but all-around it's still one of the best 7 or 8 conferences in America. Now that they blew that chance would Temple use this opportunity to ignore Chaney's requests and join the MAC in All-Sports? Would the MAC want them? I know it's off the Big East subject but Chaney's little stunt may have had ramifications when it comes to conference realignment.

Not sure about Chaney and other conferences, but while on the subject of him, did anyone here Calipari on gameday today?
They asked him about Chaney and the suspension, and Cal basically said Chaney has been doing things like this for 30 years, so what's the difference now; Cal didn't have kind words for him.
Then Cal ended the segment by saying something like "he's a good teacher, he's a good coach, and he's crazy".

All I know is this certainly does't help Temple's case of ever returning to the Big East.
The one thing Temple could always tout was a decent/good hoops school in a large northeast city (Philly).
It's hard to make a case for a team with a near-dead football program and a nutjob for a basketball coach.

Chaney is a very good coach...He has taken Temple to heights never imagined (I think Temple made the elite 8 when they had Mark Macon)...but with that being said he has been doing this kind of thing for yrs
-- Temple is not going to fire Chaney...As I'm sure we all know the Owls have limited finances so it doesn't make sense to get rid of a successful coach no matter what is age...and frankly...Temple is in a horrible location in Philly...it will be very difficult for the new coach without Chaney's reputation to get players to come risk there lives for 4 yrs on a campus that is boader line unsafe
-- I expect Temple's program to fall apart when Chaney leaves...much like Indiana's did without Knight and UNCs did without Smith...the difference is Temple won't come back to respectability for awhile
-- just on final thought...Why would the MAC take Temple football without Temple hoops? That just doesn't make any sense....the only way the MAC can make money out of that kind of arrangment is if Temple basketball comes along as well

Chaney and Temple has two strikes against them! Chaney is 73 and crazy and the Temple football program is 1AA at best! The third strike will be a new basketball coach that can not win! Also, if Temple does not retire Chaney, It becomes an outlaw school that no will want to be associated with!
