The thing that gets me, would anybody have known about it if Cheany kept his mouth shut after the game?

He'll be a changed man after this experience ... until he finds a new way to embarrass himself, his school and his profession somehow, someway, probably next season.

It's very dangerous when a coach becomes the face and icon of a university to this degree. Penn State has deal with it with Paterno in a very different way, Bobby Knight was a classic example.

there would have been a whole lot of suspicion since he also popped off before the game:

Quote:Chaney, who on Monday threatened to put a "goon" into the game if the officials allowed St. Joe's to use illegal screens, or moving picks, to free up its shooters, issued an apology and self-imposed one-game suspension for tomorrow's game against Massachusetts. After Tuesday's game, Chaney tried to justify his action, saying "I wanted him [Ingram] to put forth some illegal screens just like they were."

it would have been more right if they suspended him from all post-seasons games too. temple only has 3 games left, and chaney had suspended himself for the first of those.

My guess is that Temple will force him to leave by this summer. Maybe Chaney already knew this and that explains his erratic behavior. It's almost like him committing 'coaching suicide'. But then again, it is time. He doesn’t recruit very well any more and he doesn’t seem in touch with his players like he used to be...

By the time a few Lawyers get finished with Chaney, Temple, and the A-10, at least one St Joe player will receive a "Big Time" settlement. In the end, the law suit will cost Chaney his job. 04-cheers

I always been a fan of Cheney. But this is the perfect excuse to release a HOF'er. The game has past him by.

What suprises me is that Cheney has done this type of thing for years. When he attacked Cal , he yelled something to the effect of "Thats why I told my players to knock him out." . I also remember Juwan Howard in a press conference saying he overheard Cheney telling his players to commit some hard fouls when they met in the tourney.
