R.C. Johnson, the Memphis A.D., was on the radio this morning and said that he is negotiating to play Notre Dame in football.

As I've said before, it would be nice to see this come to fruition, even as a 2-for-1 or even one-time dealio.

RC actuall said home and home. I doubt that will happen, but I can see a 2 for 1 deal happening.

Us getting a home-and-home with Notre Dame would be an amazing feat, even in their diminished state.

As for a home game against ND... can you say hellooooooooo new record of over 66,000 fans somehow packing their way in?

Interesting, so is Louisville but it makes more sense since we are in the BE. I would guess if it pans out you guys may be playing them in one of their proposed neutral site games? Like down in Florida or something?

No, R.C. said home and home. I find that hard to believe, but I can see a 2 for 1 with one game in the Liberty Bowl.

I'd be shocked as hell if you guys got a home and home with them. I know you would be but I'd be doubly so.

I would too. Like I said, I'm hoping for a 2 for 1 deal.

Notre Dame has been the only school Syracuse ever agreed to do a 2 for 1 with. We have had 1 for 1s recently or currently scheduled with: tOSU, PSU, Michigan, UF, FSU, etc...

ND is special

Not to get your hopes up (in case it doesn't work out), but one of the articles about ND playing 3 BE teams a year included a quote from an ND official that they were looking into playing a CUSA team. Maybe that was Memphis?

I believe you'll find Notre Dame playing at Memphis is available on the Playstation.

How many catholics in Memphis, Tennessee, hmmm?

Seems like a real hotbed for Notre Dame recruiting all right.

Actually, many more than you would imagine. In the Southern Baptist - bible thumpin' - dry county havin' - holier than thou - South, Memphis has a very sizeable Catholic population.

Don't get me wrong, the numbers are small compared to the number of Catholics in NEern cities, but still a very large part of the community.

I'm Catholic. There are a lot of Catholics in Memphis. There are six Catholic high schools in Memphis and probably 25 or 30 Catholic grade schools.

Regarding your logic, they play BYU and I don't think there are many Catholics in Utah.

The Catholic Diocese of Memphis includes twenty-one counties of West Tennessee. It covers 10,682 square miles, geographically located between the Mississippi and Tennessee Rivers. the Catholic population of the Diocese is appox. 60,000 and growing with the steady influx of hispanics into the region.

Memphis is also a center of the Jewish religion in the south, home to synagoges as early as the 1830's. the oldest present synagog in memphis is Temple Israel, founded in 1853 by a group of 36 Jewish Memphians who named the city's first Reform Jewish congregation, B'nai Israel, Children of Israel.

For the first five years, the congregation worshipped in rented buildings before acquiring a permanent home in downtown Memphis, dedicated in 1858 by Isaac Mayer Wise, the founder of this nation's Reform Jewish movement.

With 1850 member families, Temple Israel is one of the largest Reform Jewish congregations in America

dont stereotype friend.

So I guess Notre Dame will be playing B'nai Brith after Memphis then?

A whole 60,000 catholics. Wow. You must feel overrun.

I'm just saying that if I were a Notre Dame fan it wouldn't excite me that much, except maybe the prospect of an easy victory.

Wow, that coming from one of the future doormats in football for the B.E.

I'm sure they would rather play the mighty BearCats. You weren't selected by the Big East because of your football history or lack thereof. 05-nono

At least we'll be doormats of the big house, as opposed to the OUT house.
