17 TCU students arrested, described as drug dealers

Posted Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2012

UPDATE: Seventeen TCU students, including four football players, have been arrested after a six-month investigation by Fort Worth and TCU police that included students selling drugs to undercover officers, police and TCU officials said Wednesday.

"Many current TCU students" were arrested early Wednesday in a drug sweep around campus, TCU Chancellor Victor J. Boschini Jr. said in a news release posted on the university's website.

"TCU has never before experienced a magnitude of student arrests such as this," he said.

PS. Yes, this could have (maybe did and/or will in the future) at any Univ, including private ones like TCU.

No doubt...but as the TCU Official noted in their press release and press conf...they were just shocked at the large scope of this operation/investigation at their school...because only 5 students TOTAL had been busted for selling drugs during recent years...(believe all were individual cases) so napping 17 at once was shocking to them (but probably not to many that know a lot of college kids at any school today).

Add the fact that if 4 of the TCU Football Players were "scholarship athletes", it would be even more shocking...because they would have just thrown away a free education. (TCU normally doesn't mess around...as most students in the past have been expelled when brought up on similar charges).

3 starters or projected starters arrested is not good for their football team as well as the public image of the school.

It looks worse at a private Christian school such as TCU, and I know they will not hesitate to get rid of these kids.

The three who were arrested allegedly sold hydro to their teammates.

I can hear ESPN's Andrea Adelson now...

"Once again, the Big East displays its total ineptitude as a conference with yet another unwelcome demonstration of its immoral and scandalous depravity.

It's shocking that any member institution still retains University accreditation, considering the BE's unsavory reputation for such immoral behavior, which, for years now, has exceeded the boundaries of acceptable conduct for any civilized society."

"In other news, the Big 12 and SEC continue making tremendous strides in scholastic achievement in athletics...... glag, glag, glag..."

This from the arrest warrants:

Quote:Brock wasn't worried about failing his drug test because there "would be about 60 people being screwed." ... He added that Ty Horn looked at the roster and said "there were only 20 people that would pass the (drug) test."

If that holds true...wow. Not sure I believe it, but it could crumble that program for the next few years, at least.

Yea, that doesn't really sound too good....

Well, there's always the Dallas Cowboys...

Waiting for the Jimmy Choo to fall that the "money" behind the drug ring was a sorority girl from SMU. Then ESPN will spin this into a Big East story by the next new cycle, and TCU will be forgotten.

I admit to a certain amount of relief that TCU is going into the Big 12 instead of the Big East at this point, but I'm not happy about their problems - nobody knows what lurks beneath the surface of even the squeaky-cleanest programs. Though lots of people said there was lots wrong at Penn State, the national perception was that they could do no wrong. And now this about the same TCU described below:

Stefan Stevenson Wrote:Last year, TCU was highlighted in a Sports Illustrated article as the only Top 25 in 2010 with no players on its roster with criminal records. The article stated that TCU and Oklahoma were the only two schools in the top 25 that perform criminal background checks on their recruits.

Let's hope none of this is going on at any of our schools.

Yeah, but TCU's on a mission here. They need to prove they belong in the big leagues.

just curious but how good are criminal background checks on recruits when almost anything they've done would be as a juvenile and sealed.
