RE: 2012 ACC Football Schedule
Clemson vs FSU as the ACC opener for Clemson and ACC game #2 for FSU. Maybe, just maybe someone will one day realize that it might be a good idea to have your top two division contenders play towards the end of the season.

FSU-Clemson was put on 9/22 because lord, that week of football is garbage, so we'll get the ABC primetime treatment and depending on how Clemson does vs. Auburn (and we don't **** the bed against Wake, again) we could get Gameday

FSU/Clemson will draw regardless of the circumstances...better to schedule a Wake or BC later on the chance that game could gain importance by being later in the season.

RE: 2012 ACC Football Schedule
Look, the Coastal may be decided after game #1. That's not a big deal, though. I think the goal has to be to get at least one ACC game in primetime every Saturday. And it's also easier to recover from a loss in week 1 or 2 than in week 11 or 12... just saying (someone will lose, but maybe both can end up Top 15?)

All about the Beamer cry train. Cut blocks are legal, and everybody else in the league uses them at times to suit their purposes. If you don't like it, ban cut blocks altogether. But for ANY team in major college football to cry over cut blocking is a giant steaming pile of hypocritical crap.

Winner of GT vs VT is winner of the Coastal until proven otherwise.

I agree!!! Well as long as we win them, if we come limping out of an OOC schedule being beat by these teams, because if we drop a bunch of games to the Big East or CUSA, it'll create buzz, just not the kind we want!

I know the rules.
You were the one to complain that the Heels were getting a bye week before our game. All I am saying is that the Heels can put that extra time to good use in an effort to protect our players from the Georgia Tech axe attack, since we have to travel to Virginia only 5 days later.

IIRC William & Mary is the second oldest college in the US.

It is #2, founded in 1693. But it's not just about age (otherwise Rutgers would have bragging rights). Its a great school, I'm not knocking it.

Perhaps. If Mizzou beats UGA to open the season that very well could propel them into the prime time game when they visit South Carolina the same day. LSU visits Auburn that day as well, and one has to figure that's likely the CBS game for the week.

BYU is @ ESPN's fair haired child Boise State that week as well.

Michigan plays @ Notre Dame that same day, and while they have only had one night game ever at Notre Dame (2011 vs USC) with the success they had last year with the one at Michigan we could be up against formidable opposition.

RE: 2012 ACC Football Schedule
Looks like we will have yet another season of no prime time home games, unless the South Carolina game gets picked this year.

Sept. 8 - BALL STATE Maybe ESPNU or Raycom
Sept. 15 - FURMAN Maybe CSN/ESPN3
Oct. 6 - GEORGIA TECH last year FSU was a noon start, 3:30 at the latest
Oct. 20 - VIRGINIA TECH see above
Nov. 10 - MARYLAND Raycom special
Nov. 17 - NC STATE This has 12 noon ESPN2/U written all over it
Nov. 24 - SOUTH CAROLINA Hopefully.

If things go to form as they usually do look for FSU and BC to both get prime time games, with Wake already being a Thursday night prime time game. Duke will be this season's NC State.....the only team that didn't host Clemson in prime time last season.

RE: 2012 ACC Football Schedule
I've been looking at the schedules of all of the conferences and which TV network has rights to the game and what games they are up against and here's what I came up with for ACC prime time possibilities in the month of September (note: I'm leaving out games which are unopposed since obviously they will be in prime time):

8/31 - NC St vs Tennessee is up against Boise St @ Michigan St, probably gets bumped to ESPN2/U.
9/1 - Clemson vs. Auburn is up against a much bigger game - Alabama vs. Michigan from Jerry World - there is a possibility both games will be in prime time (ABC vs. ESPN).
9/8 - Miami @ Kansas St and Penn St @ Virginia are the 2 best games (one is likely regional ABC 3:30); SEC game could be Georgia @ Missouri; UCF @ Ohio St will get love as well.
9/15 - SEC owns this day with Alabama @ Arkansas and Florida @ Tennessee; USC @ Stanford will get love on the West Coast; ACC has several good but not great games.
9/22 - game of the day is Michigan @ ND, but it's on NBC; Clemson @ FSU and Miami @ Ga Tech are both candidates for prime time; LSU @ Auburn looks like SEC game on CBS; Kansas St @ Oklahoma is Big 12 game.
9/29 - Cincinnati vs Va Tech (Landover) feels like a night game on ESPN2 or ESPNU; FSU @ S Florida and NC St @ Miami depends on records at this point; Big Ten owns this day with Ohio St @ Michigan St and Wisconsin @ Nebraska; SEC has Tenn @ Georgia; Big 12 has Texas @ Okie St.

That's all well and good, but I am talking about Clemson home games. We already know that the Auburn games is prime time on ABC or ESPN, but that's not a home game.

Here are the possibilities and who they are up against:

GT 10/6

Arkansas @ Auburn
LSU @ Florida
UGA @ South Carolina
Nebraska @ Ohio State
Miami vs Notre Dame @ Soldier Field
OU @ Texas Tech
WVU @ Texas
Washington @ Oregon
Arizona @ Stanford

VT 10/20

Alabama @ Tennessee
South Carolina @ Florida
LSU @ Texas A&M
Baylor @ Texas
Texas Tech @ TCU
Kansas St @ WVU
Penn St @ Iowa
Stanford @ Cal

NCSU 11/17

USC vs UCLA
Stanford @ Oregon
OU @ WVU
Texas Tech @ Oklahoma State
Ohio State @ Wisconsin

Sad to think that NC State would be the best chance, and that's only because that is the week that the SEC tunes up against FCS teams before rivalry week.

Yeah, while Clemson has a good schedule this year, you are up against stiff competition in those first 2 games, no doubt. Even the FSU game could conceivably get beat out by Miami @ Ga Tech (though CU @ FSU gets the nod if both teams live up to expectations).

Your best bets for prime time home game this year are (1) both Clemson & S Carolina highly-ranked, or (2) Maryland WAY, WAY better than expected. (don't count on #2)

At least you shouldn't be stuck with a bunch of NOON games this year! 3:30 PM Regional TV is respectable (and it covers the states you typically recruit).

Auburn and FSU, the best home games on the schedule last year, were noon games. Never discount the willingness of the ACC to do whatever it can to hurt Clemson. Want to cripple the best home field advantage in the conference? Make them play at noon. Can't have anything unfair like the electric atmosphere that was present vs FSU in '03 or '09, or GT in '06.

The ACC controls where the games are on the schedule. Which games do you think are going to have a larger national appeal this year? Clemson/VT and Clemson/GT or Clemson/Maryland and Clemson/NC State?
