Correction: It was on Garner-Webb's home court.

i don't know why you would be surprised...i could tell you Arky State would play us close...they always do...they hate us...but in the end we always find a way to win...kinda like Mem and TN...no matter how bad we are we always play em hard and close...but they always seem to find a way to pull it out...or like UL and Iowa i guess.

Go Tigers!!!

they will likely be on par with the A-10, 2 bids most years.

Iowa? Last I checked they defeated Texas yesterday and are playing North Carolina for the Maui Title tonight but whatever. I guess they are like Arkansas State?

Quote:wake me up when West Virginia does anything in hoops

-- West Virginia would probably be the second or third best team in NCUSA....and we probably would have the second largest hoops areana in the league after Memphis

-- You Memphis fans know I respect your sports programs...but if you can't see that NCUSA hoops is going to be God awfull....I don't think your being reasonable

Quote:they will likely be on par with the A-10, 2 bids most years.

-- I believe the A10 usually gets 3-4 bids a year....and that was before UNCC and St Louis

-- When thinking of teams in CUSA with good histories...I'm thinking Memphis, UTEP, Houston and maybe Tulsa......the A10 has Temple, Xavier, St Josephs, Umass....even schools like George Washington, LaSalle and Rhode Island have been very solid at some time in their histories....again....this is not even counting a very good program like Charolott and a solid program like St Louis

-- In my opinion the A10 is a step or two ahead of CUSA on the hardwood...but one must remember that CUSA was not created for bball...it was meant to be a 12 team/southwestern based football conference

Exactly. There's no comparing the New C-USA and the A-10, at least not right now. The A-10 annually gets 3 or 4 teams to the NCAA Tournament. And with Charlotte and St. Louis joining they'll get more. And Charlotte will probably be a Top 25 team in the A-10, joining schools like St. Joseph's, Xavier and Dayton in that regard. A close game is a close game, UC had a close game the other night. As long as you win it's all good.

Lets be honest Claw, when a team you should outclass plays your squad close there is reason for concern. We beat BYU-HI by 10 last week and it had eyebrows up on the Louisville message boards.

You forgot about UAB - they have had a strong history from the beginning of their program until now. Also, Tulane has been solid at some time in their history as well. UCF made the dance last year. USM has a proven winner as a coach, and there are rumors that Tim Floyd is headed back to New Orleans to resurrect the Tulane program. Rice and SMU are supposed to have good squads this year - I have no idea if this is true or not.

CUSA hoops will obviously miss UL and UC, but it won't be the garbage some people like to make it out as.

Yup...I guess they are a couple of steps ahead of us! :D

Seriously, outside of Memphis and UTEP, CUSA hoops is banking on potential.
*can Penders bring Houston back? (I think he can...and if he does, WATCH OUT! There's more talent locally in Houston than the rest of us can fathom!)
*can Eustachy build a true program at Southern Miss? (not as confident there, but I'm not counting him out)
*can Tulsa rebuild its program? (in the new CUSA vacuum, maybe, with the right coach)
*can UAB build on last year? (I think so)
*can someone else step-up? (UCF, UCF...calling UCF!)

We're obviously not going to continue without missing a beat...look at everything we've lost. It's just not feasible. The blocks are in place for a solid conference, we just have to live up to our potential.

Jackson, CUSA fans generally fall into one of several categories.
1. Those who want out...see a large number of Memphis and ECU fans!
2. Those excited to be joining...see UTEP, Rice, SMU, Tulsa, Marshall, UCF.
3. Those that will defend the conference to the death.
4. Those that accept that we are where we are and all the bitching and moaning in the world won't help if we don't perform.
