Why would a brand new coaching staff show favoritism for a group of freshmen? Although I do wonder about Butler Benton and Glaathar jumping past some of last year's backs.

I can't believe Dantonio is that type of person from what I have read about him.

Maybe there was some built in resentment among players from last year?

Why are we not hearing about team unity issues in the media?

I am going to make it a point to listen to the Dantonio radio show this week. I hope callers are allowed to ask some tough questions and not just say - "We're pulling for you, Coach".

I think it comes down to the fact that the freshman are "their" players because they signed them. Sad but true, they are definitely showing favoritism towards them. I dont think there is any resentment at all on the part of the upperclassmen, if there is any biasedness it is coming from the coaching staff IMO and not the players...

I don't think they limit what you ask about, callers have asked so called tough questions in the past. But if you want to hear the answer you'll have to call in and ask. they probably won't ask for you.

There has been a great deal of discussion about who should be playing and who is not. There are compliants that the "underclassmen" are not getting a fair chance. Well lets look at what we have. I have deleted from my prior list those who are no longer on the team so we have a shorter list to work with. I have no inside info, have not discussed anything with parents and I am long gone from the school thing so I have no contacts with team members.
I have listed and noted those that play. My information is from the participation lists and my attendance at the games.

After reviewing this list I am not sure what the issue is here. Some could agrue that certain individuals should not play and others should have more PT.
I think that the two DL that were switched should be discounted because thay are learning a new position and probably get snaps in practice.

So who do we have an issue with:
Vample.....has not played for either Minter or Dantonio
Spitzer......did not make travel team to West Point
Wimmer..... don't know anything, early comments suggested he would have pt
Webster.....has played but I am not sure how much, does have exp
Bolton.......I think he is a redshirt fr
Tobin........redshirt fr

Now lets look at some who are playing that were not part of the recruiting class but were walkons or transfers:

Germany........plays a lot
Farfsing..........snapper
Carvitti...........plays
Giddens.........plays

So here are the facts, lets discuss!

colucut,

I appreciate your effort here. But this conversation (argument) about favoritism by Dantanio has become very confusing in this thread, and on the voy board.

Originally, the argument focused on freshman getting snaps over sophmores and juniors, and Dantonio favoring his recruits over Minter holdovers. Then the argument switched to seniors playing that did not deserve it because of their work ethic and game performance. Players called out included Thomas, Murray, Hall, and Gino. Now I think the argument has moved to specific players that are getting shortchanged (Grutza over Spitzer, etc).

Clearly there is a great deal of disappointment with the season so far which has morphed into angry finger pointing.

Waco, I agree. As the discussion progressed it seemed to take the form of "the poor sophs and jrs". The reality is that there are some good ones who play. The JRs issue is that of a lack of numbers!

If the Freshman were favored there would be more playing. There appears to be a large redshirt class. I guess that is another thread to work on.
