But I don't think anyone is that gutsy to tell certain schools what they really need to hear.

I'm not sure what your idea is with this but I was thinking along the lines of making the Big East a holding company with subsidiaries branded "Big East Football", "Big East Basketball" and another subsidiary could cover all the other sport brands.

In any event, making them their own brand or 'company' would allow each to generate their own contracts, etc.

It also creates other isssues, so I'm not sure it would be the way to go.

I caught the tail end of ESPNU College Football live and thats kind of what I thought they were talking about. That way the BB, and the Schools that also play BB, as well as FB, share in that realm. But the FB portion Stays with the FB portion of the Buisness profile. Problem is Both subsidize the Oly programs. So a portion must remain to support the other programs.

The contracts are separated now for hoops and football. Part of the deal was to bring both under one agreement.

How are the PAC , BIG's and SEC arranged, We should follow Their examples

Do you think that contributed to the firing

No, the contracts were negotiated several years prior to Marinatto. Everyone seemed to want to synchronize them, so I don't think that it was an issue in his firing.

Essentially, one deal per/broadcaster. ESPN offers one deal for the games they want. Fox offers their deal for their games they want. Each deal includes football and hoops and may contain other sports, not sure on that. Matt Sarz and Frank the Tank, or a few others, may have better info on the actual contracts.

As an example, look at the verbal agreement the Big 12 has attained with ESPN and Fox.

The main difference with the other conf's is everyone is a football and basketball school. The Big East is the only conference of the Top 6 that is a hybrid, with differing competing interests money-wise.

We were just trying to think of ways to rid the Big East of the conflicts between the basketball only and football schools.

Makes sense to me to take some kind of different approach from the other conf's.

Of course. Then again, he (or she) could figure it out enough to where things occur more smoothly than we're currently anticipating. In other words, we'll have to wait and see.

I actually disagree. The new commissioner will have only one objective and that is to maximize the TV deal.

If he accomplishes that all the other issues will go away.

We have three categories of members: all sports, all but football, football only. Each will get paid differently.
