Not to start a smack thread with our UCF folks but IMO that stadium already looks nicer then Brighthouse. Just need to get it expanded to 40-45k and you might as well do it now. I have always liked stadiums that are built into the ground as opposed to having to go straight up. I know ECU and some other schools at sea level do not have that option but it is a nice touch IMO. Congrats to Niner Fans...Time to get excited about Football

Ox Blue ... I remember using that same company to view the construction of UNT's football stadium. Let me tell you ... the excitment you get watching the stadium go up doesn't compare to the excitment of watching your team play in the stadium. Congrats on your soon to be football home.

1. Will the field be natural turf or field turf?

2. What is parking going to be like for games? I know yall have like 6 parking decks on campus, put some of them are a LONG hall from the stadium.
The parking will not be as difficult as you might think. Our campus is far more compact than most. We do not have interior roads and we often build up instead of out. It is a very walkable campus.

I know your campus well, visit it about 4 times a year. And for older folks the walk from your nearest parking deck will still be a haul, with hills.

Well, if you've visited our campus 4 times in the last year I'm not sure how you could have missed the one going up near the stadium since it has been under construction for the better part of the last year. 01-wingedeagle

Perhaps it wasn't tall enough to see when I was there. I was aware there was some construction going on up there behind the building above the baseball stadium. But I couldn't tell what it was. Saw the crane, but hell it could of been another classroom building for all I knew. My attention was kinda on the stadium anyway, okay? Sorry I don't measure up to what you think I should know about your campus's construction projects. I mean, Dayum!

OK, apology accepted. 03-nutkick

I like that we're building it this way as well.

You may have already seen these, but this is what the stadium will look like at 40,000:

and this is what it will look like from the lower bowl:

15,000 right now. At the CUSA presser, they said that they are looking into options for stadium expansion. I assuming that would be how to pay for it. I imagine we will not be able to start construction on the expansion phase until the initial stadium work has been paid for.

With the current stadium plan, we can add temporary bleachers at the top of the bowl to raise capacity to 20,000-25,000.

Worry about filling 15k, 20k, 25k, 30k and 35k before you worry about 40k.

17k in a 40k stadium looks bad.

I swear some of you think you can run a marathon before you can crawl.

haha, well if Charlotte has one thing going for us its that we are growing like crazy right now.
Its nice to get a football program to go along with that, im sure as long as we dont completely suck we will be able to attract interest. 40K right off the bat is unrealistic sure, but who knows in ten years or so.

First, ECU fans b1tch about not having enough room for when they visit and now they b1tch about us possibly not filling it up. 03-banghead

I assuming I better get use to this.

All I want is a place to sit in Charlotte's football stadium when the Pirates play there.

I don't care if Charlotte puts 17K butts into a 40K stadium. It would be no different than 80% of C-USA now.

I'm in no hurry to expand. A small stadium means a high demand for tickets. A high demand for tickets means more excitement and a more passioned atmosphere.

Plus, "temporary" bleachers don't necessarily look temporary, and in many cases they are long-term solutions. I'm pretty sure the upper level of our baseball stadium is technically "temporary" bleachers.

Just for reference, but we appear to be ready to ask for the expansion for some time now. It's on the 2014 budget:

If only 20,000 to 25,000 seats in 2015 if ya'll host ECU the first year in the league any chance the game will be played at the Panthers Stadium?

Because those 2 things aren't exactly related. You will need a lot of seats when we come, because we'll pretty much buy up any tickets we can get our hands on. However, it's yet to be determined if you'll sell a high number of tickets for random C-USA games against teams that your fan base has little to no interaction or history with.

With some smart out of conference scheduling I can see the need for a 40,000 seat staduim in Charlotte. I think ECU, Marshall and possibly ODU will be very good ticket sales and if they schedule a couple of regional schools like Appy state, WVU, Wake and Duke they will have some good attendance...other CUSA schools may take a while...it did at ECU. The Charlotte metro is completely void of big time college football but plenty of college football fans...I would attend a Charlotte home game if we are away on that weekend or they had a week night game.

So Pirates, if Charlotte came to Greenville for an away game and brought busloads of fans how many seats could we likely get? Are there 10,000-15,000 available? I am not sure we should be building a stadium with that many extra seats for a game or so a year.

Normal allotment to visiting schools is usually 5,000. But visiting fans always find more tickets through friends, students, etc.

Thanks, I think you answered what I was looking for. So going to 20,000 now might make sense, but we need to prove we can sell tickets during the first couple of FBS years before we bring out the cranes.
