Interesting study Cuban 04-bow This metric clearly shows the BE is hardly in the crapper. Seven schools with a five figure advance in attendance. Good to see people pointing out the positives, because they balance out the negatives at this point (perhaps more than).

The Big East schools are still developing and I think those numbers shw that our fan bases are growing at a fast rate. Sure they started in low numbers but it shows the potential is there or more growth in the next 10 years

SDSU averaged in the mid 40's when we were good in the 70's and San Diego was a much smaller town back then. If we can keep momentum with a solid season this year, our attendance could hit that same mark in our first year in the BE.

I can pretty much guarantee that Memphis' attendance is going back north. Pretty soon, too.

That's the part haters just don't get. With proper promotions and TV coverage, I can see BE FB schools growing by leaps and bounds in the coming years. As long as schools coming in are committed to football, things will turn around.

This is why I don't pay too much attention to people that constantly promote hierarchy and other crap because things can change overnight. I only use my own school as an example. UCONN invested properly into football and it now has up to 30K in season ticket holder base. In 10 years, I can see UCONN expand the stadium to over 50K and go from there. With coach P at the helm, there is already a huge surge of interest from in-state recruits and that won't change anytime soon.

Houston's will go up significantly more once the new stadium is completed. We have sold out virtually every home game for the last 2.5 years so we were at a relative ceiling.

We didn't even have a student section in 2000.

To be clear, this is not a per-game increase, but an increase in overall cumulative attendance.

E.g., USF's average per-game attendance rose from 40,800 in 2010 to 44,500 in 2011. A nice increase, though of course the 2011 schedule included a home game vs Miami, always a big draw, whereas 2010 did not.

I'd say Cincinnati's jump was due to putting their big games at PBS. Nippert wasn't expanded, and little else has changed...

In 2000, UCF had just beaten Alabama in the Tide's Homecoming Game...and the next/last UCF Home game of the season, was scheduled vs #3 Virginia Tech (with Michael Vick).

While Vick got hurt the week before in an upset loss at Miami (Va Tech fell to #10 in the polls), UCF still set a school attendance record for a regular season game when a crowd of 50,220 showed up at the Citrus Bowl....as that record will most likely stand until UCF expands their current on-campus stadium past that capacity.

The other 4 UCF home games that season averaged 21,543 during UCF's Independent Football status run (ended in 2002 when UCF joined the MAC).
