there's also this blog on syracuse.com

nothing all that new... just more a-n-t-i-c-i-p-a-t-i-o-n!

I think it will happen for sure for 2013 football season. In fact the Big East may be looking forward to getting rid of Syracuse and Pittsburgh for the 2013 season because it would screw up their schedules having 14 teams for 2013 and then 12 teams for 2014. This also means that I think the buyout will be low probably 7 or 8 million per team.

If thats the case, maybe SU and Pitt should ask the BE to let them stay for the 2013 season. Maybe the BE would then have to resort to kicking them out of the league, whereas they would then be able to leave for a lot less then $7 or $8 million, maybe even for free. 03-lmfao

Im joking of course, but wouldnt it be funny to see something like that happen. 03-lmfao

I was thinking the same thing. Syracuse and Pittsburgh could say we are abiding by the Big East by-laws and threaten to stay in the conference for a year longer to get a reduced buy out. It would be a classic move to get the Big East mad at them and lower the buy out to $5 million which is the stated amount after 27 months.

I think I'd like to stay ... just to watch Marinatto try to run a 20 team BET in March 2014. 03-lmfao

I, for one, am really looking forward to the addition of Pitt and Syracuse to the ACC. I am a BC fan and I know that the Eagles are the other "new kid on the block" but I think moving to the ACC was the best thing Boston College has done in a long time.

As a matter of fact, the biggest beneficiary of the Syracuse and Pitt additions (other than Syracuse and Pitt) is BC. It will be great for the Eagles to get a couple of teams that we some historical tradition with back on the schedule.

I would love to see the BC v Syracuse game get slotted in for the day after Thanksgiving every year.

I think Syracuse and Pitt make great fits for the ACC and will help solidify the entire Eastern Seaboard for the Conference.

Speaking as a relatively recent addition to the Conference, I think that some of the founding members of the ACC (UNC, Duke, UVA etc) can be a little slow to accept the new teams. I know that Coach K, for instance, was slow to get on board with expansion. I think that considering the direction college athletics are going, however, the ACC has done a great job of "keeping up with the Joneses". The ACC really is positioned to be the dominant East Coast conference. The fact that the ACC had better foresight and planning is the reason that we are all uniting under the ACC banner as opposed to the Big East banner. I think that is a good thing as well because the association with Universities like UNC, UVA, Duke and Wake Forest is great for everyone involved.

Coach K loved getting Syracuse to join last Sept...he has changed since 2003.

Agreed... I think Coach K has also seen that the ACC was way ahead of the game with respect to expansion and that the ACC is poised to be the dominant collegiate conference on the Eastern Seaboard.

It just took him a little while to get used to the fact that he could not have his double round robin in hoops every season. All kidding aside, Coach K is obviously a legend of collegiate athletics and one of the biggest reasons that the ACC is in the great position it is in today.

I'd like to see Pitt and Cuse in the ACC for 2013... I'd enjoy seeing a Miami - Pitt game down at SunLife.

Virginia is not a charter member of the ACC.

Coach K was slow to embrace expansion. He's been very vocal in support of Pitt and SU. He just doesn't like dolphins...err...pods.

You both will be gone in 13. Likely have to pay an extra mil or 2, but nothing like what WV just did. Of course there is always 12/21/2012 to deal with.
