another interesting question is how many people have a family member or someone they would consider a friend that has driven drunk or gotten a dui. i would imagine that that would be pretty much everyone.

XuBrew, true, but I know a lot of people. And I guess we all knew Huggs to some degree. I would be more interested in the people who said they didn't know anyone who has driven drunk.

Good poll, Jarr, but "driving drunk" is really a subjective term. I have driven several times with a buzz (six pack over the span of 2-3 hours). I have been stopped on a couple of occasions, thankfully testing negative both times. "Once in a while" was my answer because I know there are various degrees of "drunkenness", and I realize a "good buzz" could legally be considered drunk depending on what the ol' blow-me test says.

I've never been too drunk to stand on my two feet, and driven. Interestingly, one of the cops who stopped me told me that they "believe you don't necessarily have to be falling down drunk to be driving under the influence". Probably some truth to that, as it's probably the difference in those "close calls."

I answered once or twice, but those were in my younger partying days. Within the last 10 years I would answer never.

Most of us are human, and occasionally make mistakes. What's important is to learn from those mistakes. Criticizing and judging people after the fact does no one any good.

if the legal limit is 0.08, that is generally four beers in an hour, at least for me. a beer registers slightly under .02 on the brethalyzer. you would most likely pass the brethalyzer after drinking a six pack over that timespan. the legal limit used to be 1.0, and nearly everyone would probably be able to pass the field sobriety test if they were at a 1.0, but they've lowered the legal limit anyway. just figure that each drink you have is .02 and that you sober up at the rate of one drink an hour and you should be fine.

i answered once or twice, but i've never driven when i was anywhere close to being as drunk as huggs was. having said that, i've had several friends that have either gotten dui's or had extremely close calls doing things that were worse than what huggins did, including vomitting on themselves and continuing to drive.

Not sure if I should mention this, but if I've had only a few and the cop asks if I've been drinking I never thought it was wise to say
"I've had a few"

If you think your borderline, it's better to say, no I haven't been drinking at all.

Ok it was irresponsible for me to post that , but what do you expect.
