Maybe 2008 or 09, my magic 8-ball isn't working well tonight.....

I would like to see Memphis, UCF & ECU added to the BEast* for all-sports. YES, a 12-team conference will be required by the new powerful NCAA.

WVU, Pitt, Syracuse,
Louisville, UConn, Cincy,
Rutgers, USF, BC**,
Memphis, UCF & ECU

*Name will change
**TBD

I hope the "BC" you are referring to is another school besides Boston College....I don't think that BC is going to even get a courtesy invite from the eastern all sports league....they have cast there lot with the ACC and let them live with it now

Wouldn't a split Big East wait 5 year from 2005 so that both new conferences would meet the "6-teams playing together for 5 years" requirement for an NCAA automatic bid?

[Wouldn't a split Big East wait 5 year from 2005 so that both new conferences would meet the "6-teams playing together for 5 years" requirement for an NCAA automatic bid? QUOTE]

I thought so as well...but several written reports have stated that the earliest date for a split would be 2008..and the bball only's would already have 6 teams that have played together for 5 yrs

1. Georgetown
2 St. Johns
3 Providence
4 Villanova
5 Seton Hall
6 Notre Dame

--unless of course... if ND chooses to come with the football schools in some capacity....that would change everything very quickly

--the football schools would have to form a new league anway...so we are going to have to wait for the automatic birth no matter what happens ( I think?)

I predict that it will be announced in 2008 and begin play in fall of 2009.

the football schools will bolt and form a 12 team all sports league Memphis , ECU , UCF, Marshall will be added. it will happen by 2010. these schools will prove there worth because of there great fan support. ECU has great fan support win or lose. look at the BE football now. Rutgers pathetic record and little fan support. Cincy poor fan support (they make there fans buy football tickets to get to buy basketball tickets) USF, Steinbrenner will have to buy up all the tickets and give them away to nursing homes to get people in the stands. Pitt, they have support only if they win. UCONN football who knows? the Q football fans are very fickle, don't travel well. the only schools that have great fan support in BE football, and travel well, are WVa and Louisville. the only reason that the BE still has a BCS slot is because ABC/ESPN/DISNEY needs those eastern tv set numbers to sell adds. the BE will never lose a BCS slot because ,of the "potential" of the large eastern television markets. however the BE will add schools, in a hartbeat, if they feel the ,tv networks( ESPN,ESPN2,ABC) deside to bump up a none BCS conference like CUSA or MWC to BCS status. the new CUSA has 4 large so called " sleeping giant" schools , Memphis, ECU, UCF and UTEP. any one of these schools, if they start to win in CUSA could , trigger this to happen 04-cheers
