Mark this down: the Big XII will no longer exist as a football conference in 15 years or less. I cannot say with 100% certainly that the ACC will exist, I'm just telling you on this 23rd of June 2012 that by 2027 there will no longer be a Big 12 as we know it (specifically Texas and Oklahoma will be gone). The very existence of the conference makes no sense, and it will be picked over by the Pac 12 and/or SEC and/or Big Ten within 15 years - whether the ACC continues to exist or not.

I'll agree with this. Any team that joins the Big 12 is really joining Baylor, TCU, Kansas, Kansas St, Iowa St and WVU because the Texoma 4 will be in the Pac 12 as soon as the GOR is up and the LHN fails. And that could be as soon as 4 years. The current 5 year grant of rights started last season and I do not believe Tex and Okl will give up their rights for 13 years for the rest of this POS conference.

If as a partial member ND takes the ACC's Chick-fi-a slot the ACC's #2 team falls to the Champs Sports at half the payout and facing the BE in the best case scenario. Worst case is the Sun Bowl in El Paso or Belk in Charlotte, both significant drops in prestige and layout.

If as a partial member ND take's the Big XII's Cotton Bowl slot the Big XII's #3rd place team falls to the Alamo Bowl against the B1G with a much higher layout. Worst case is the Insight in Tempe, still with more prestige and a higher layout in the best case scenario for the ACC.

If the Texoma Four leave, the GOR is done for all intents and purposes. As long as ESPN funds the LHN, Texas stays put. If ESPN pulls the plug on it, then Texas will grab OU and friends and head west. Without UT and OU, the TV partners will cancel the TV deals for the Big 12. Sure, some money will move a little, but not nearly as much as the GOR would seem to require.

Perhaps another reason to keep the Big 12 at 10 if they can't get a King like FSU?

Stay at 10, lose 4 schools down the road, and then what's left technically doesn't meet the definition of an FBS conference. So the lawyers could argue the GOR is null and void.

It will be interesting to see that if FSU doesn't go does the Big 12 expand with Louisville and one other? Or does it stay at 10? My money is on staying at 10 precisely because of the above.

Cheers,
Neil

there are only 2 ways adding nd makes any sense for acc. all sports including football(even if there a partial member for a few years) and 2nd if nd is really seriously considering joining the big 12 for olympic sports since if they join for olympic sports it makes it more likely they would join the big 12 as all sports member once there independence has run its course and a conference is needed to assure the best outcome for there football.

The way I see it, if ND joins for all sports except football - even for a few years - they should not get access to ACC bowl games. Either you're IN for football, or you're NOT.

Sounds like backpeddling to me.

Can't be back peddling. His mom took his bike away because he didn't clean his room.
