RE: New Column: Love At First Sight For Bearcat Newcomer Rubles
Quote:"I tell people all the time, when recruits come to a home game and it's a packed house and the crowd is a factor in the game, that's impressive to kids," said Coach Cronin. "People say, 'Coach we need to recruit this guy or that guy.' Well, if we sellout Fifth Third Arena every game, recruiting becomes a lot easier."
This applies most for recruits that attend games, but, as someone who no longer resides in Cincy, i can definitely attest to its effect on TV. When the house is packed, especially for whiteouts, blackouts, ring of red games, it looks like an overwhelming place for opponents to play, and not just an awesome TV visual.

Darren Savino is such a beast on the recruiting trail.

Yep, I was very happy when Wagner went in a different direction. I suspect in the coming years a program in the NYC/NJ area is going to want him as a head coach.

I'm not sure where Savino saw Rubles but it's interesting UC got in early on a Texas kid when Savino's wheelhouse is the NYC area.

If Rubles can just be as advertised...along with JJ I'm excited about our "big men" in that they are PERFECT for Mick's system

Hopefully everyone sees these quotes!!

i'm excited for titus. it's just a great name too. i've a fondness for russian culture as well. notice, i didn't say soviet culture. i'm so happy that it is he as our lone newcomer as opposed to a late grasp freshman. but we do have two newcomers incidentally. and both are going to play major minutes. i doubt that anyone would disagree. without having seen titus play yet, i'm going to venture his game is like a poor man's combination of pete mickeal and herb jones. the juco connection is coincidental. i ran out of theories too.

Mick and his assistants go all over the place, and do whatever it takes. Tireless effort...

When is the drop dead date to add incoming players? Anything can happen before then. These guys dont stop recruiting, ever.

I don't think there is one, outside of the beginning of UC's classes.

They have up to a week or two after the first day of classes to add a player. Fall semester begins August 27th.

Is this the first year that UC has gone to semesters?
