Exclamation USFL Comeback??

I don't think I would like the extra wear and tear on the field. I also don't think they would draw enough to warrant a 57k seat stadium.

Interesting. Other cities being considered are Portland, Salt Lake City, San Antonio/Austin, Columbus/Akron, Oklahoma City, Omaha, Birmingham, and Memphis.

I think they should avoid Columbus and Austin. Even if they're playing at different times of the year, it'd be hard to compete with Ohio St. and Texas.

Don't let Donald Trump find out. He will kill it like he did the first time.

I am all for it. I closely followed the USFL. I agree, texasorange, Trump killed the old USFL.

David Dixon's dream of a spring professional football league played in cities without NFL franchises (that did not compete directly with the NFL) was a good one.

The ESPN 30 for 30 movie on it "Small Potatoes: Who Killed the USFL?" was really good. Trump's arrogance is unmatched.

I'm OK with the concept just as long as:

1) The team colors are NOT a combination of red, green, and black,

2) The team's nickname is NOT "Skyhawks",

3) The team's initial head coach is NOT a former NC State QB (no offense, Wolfman).

----

They don't necessarily have to draw 57K/per game to make it successful, and frankly of the three area stadiums, Carter-Finley is the best gameday stadium, with the best parking. Duke's Wallace Wade is second.

The team just has to win a game or two in its first season. That's all we'll ask of it.

For those who don't live in Raleigh-Durham, we have a bad taste in our mouth, STILL to this day, regarding the old WLAF outfit.

No, no no.

I think the Arena League works far better ... they just shouldn't go insane and try to create two or three different AFL divisions ... AFL had the equivalent of I-A, I-AA, and II at one point.

AFL may indeed work -- it just didn't work in Raleigh for some reason.

Because it wasn't proper AFL ... it was in one of their endless and confusing subdivisions. We even briefly had an AFL team at the Bi-Lo Center in Greenville, SC.

Add poor ownership, 3rd choice for scheduling dates behind NC State and Hurricanes and it was too expensive.

No offense taken. Gabriel was a great college QB and a pretty good NFL QB. He was not a good coach. I think the owners banked on him drawing a crowd. That might have worked for one game.

RE: USFL Comeback??
Don't we still have the UFL? Or did that go under already? Never mind, I looked it up. It still exists.

http://www.ufl-football.com/

Do we really need another pro league that nobody watches or knows exists?
