I've decided to keep a running count of articles the TW writes on our three CFB teams in the state. Beginning today I'll keep a running tab on the number of CFB articles that appear on the TW website that pertain to the three teams. I will not read every article - only check to make sure they are specifically about those teams. Please keep my feet to the fire as far as accuracy is concerned if you wish.

I'll kind of make my own rules if the article injects a TU comparison in (for instance) an OSU or OU article or visi-versi. I'll also keep tabs on the two conferences, but remember, the B12 should have a two for one advantage because both OSU and OU are in that league compared to TU being the only instate team in CUSA.

I generally don't read every OU/OSU article on the TW website, but I'll try to be as accurate as I can. Also, I won't measure inches or some such arbitrary stat - just the total number of articles.

There was an article on the three state QBs and their significance in the coming season. This cancels out that vote (giving all three a vote for one article) and I will not count it as a vote for all three. IMO.

You know he'll dump about three or four in one day just to mess up your monthly totals, but the way your keeping track it will show how lazy he's getting.

Good point, but I think its planned TU destruction on the TW sports editors agenda TBH. I've always wanted to do this, but couldn't really come up with a way to coordinate the research. Just about everyone I talk with knows that there has been a long standing bias in the TW to give OU/OSU the lions share of "pub", but there are a number of factors involved. Certainly bias is one and the perception that local folks are only interested in OU/OSU. I think that is somewhat of a fallacy. Most local fans are fans of all three teams, thus all three should get about the same amount with the "preference" to TU IMO because they are "truly local". I don't consider OU/OSU local. A better term would probably be "regional". But local? No way.

But it certainly will be interesting. I have no idea how it will turn out. But I have my suspicions.

There was an article today about TU's opponent, Iowa St. I did not include it as a B12 article (I did include another one in the paper however specifically about the B12.).

I'll try to keep an opponents "preview" of an upcoming game off the list. For instance, UTEP as a CUSA "article" the week of their game with OU in El Paso.

Again, keep my feet to the fire on accuracy and we''ll see if the TW's feet are as well.

BTW, I like the way Haisten is dealing with information he digs up. Its not just from the TU talking points, but something more original and enlightening. I already know, for instance that Cody Green is the starter or that Thomas Roberson is healthy this year. But if you tell me that Roberson was married recently or that Cody is the fastest of the QB's, that is something I didn't know. Just give me more "stuff".

Not only is Tulsa local, it also has more players from Oklahoma than OU...it is Oklahoma's team.....I would advertise the hell out of that......OU is more of a Texas team. I would Advertise that everyday and mention that in every interview. I grew up in Illinois and when I watched the Sugar Bowl, when I was about 12, Arkansas was playing Michigan......I was for Arkansas even though Michigan was in the Big 10, because 90% of the players on Arkansas were from Arkansas and only about 40-50% of Michigan were from Michigan. I don't think most of the people in Oklahoma think of that. Probably the Biggest reason the Tulsa World should publicize TU is economics......the more people in the country that see Tulsa, Oklahoma in a positive light increases the odds they might want to do some business there......not to mention, just pride in your city!!!!

Exactly! A bigger, better TU program lifts all our boats in this area. TU is one of the most valuable assets in this city/local region. It only makes sense that TU should get the benefit of the doubt when posting a football/mbb/wbb etc story in a local newspaper. But IMO the TW knows that (as well as other nearby media outlets), they (TW) just don't have the cajones to carry through with it.

IMO one of the problems with our city - (I emphasize "one") is that there are too many people that just consider themselves Oklahomans, not Tulsans first. That may make them a good Okie, but also can make them a lousy Tulsan. Anyone have a Thunder T-Shirt? That's an Oklahoma City Thunder shirt BTW.

Additionally, there was the article I predicted about the first OU opponent - UTEP. It is not in the count as either an OU or CUSA listing. Also, an article on OSU's TV change by Cox cable was not counted as an OSU article.

I won't count "game result" postings in the TW as conference articles. That really wouldn't be fair since the B12 only has 10 teams to CUSA's 12. I only want articles specifically on the conferences or team which reflects specifically on the conference as a whole.
