I would not agree.

Depends. Who's voting? If the entire city participated, I think it would pass easily.

If the people who always vote and no one else, then yeah, I don't think we would be getting AAA team and ballpark.

By El Paso Inc.’s count, there were 78 speakers – 43 for the stadium project and 33 against, with two speaking neither in direct support nor in opposition.

Source

So 55% in favor, 43% against and 2% unsure.

Also, I have to reiterate how absolutely terrible they have bungled the PR side of things. So much freaking misinformation on both sides.

No matter where you are in this dispute (for/against), you have to admit this whole debate has been eye opening to how ignorant/uneducated El Pasoans are.

Thanks for the information

I was referring to an El Paso times poll that showed at the time that 248 people had voted and 78% of them opposed the stadium being built at City Hall.

I seriously doubt the validity and accuracy of an El Paso Times poll. Please provide a link so that we may see the "actual" method they used to get such a lopsided result (which was probably some intern who walked the streets of a tigua neighborhood). I will gladly eat crow if you can provide proof and it's actually a legitimate polling process that they used.

It wouldn't matter if it was 100% in his fitbud's favor. 248 people is FAR too small of a number to represent anything much less the opinion of the entire city.

What El Paso is in favor of depends on how the question is framed and who is allowed to vote.

Obviously, if you polled all of El Paso and asked them if they wanted a triple A baseball stadium, a majority of them would vote yes.

However, if you polled all of El Paso and asked them if they wanted to demolish City Hall in order to build the stadium, those numbers would change drastically.

Now consider if you put it to a vote where usually only the people who are most effected ( property owners) would vote on the matter, the majority would be against it.

The right to vote is available to almost everyone over the age of 18 but usually, those who vote are property owners who are most effected by these kinds of issues.

Therefore, those who vote should have the most say in what should happen to City Hall.

Which is why the owners of this team and City Council do not want to see it go to a vote.

If you want info on the poll I references you can find it at

This is interesting new information that might discourage people from taking on any more debt for "Quality of Life " issues such as sports stadiums.

Combs pointed to the city of El Paso as an example. The city had more than 649,000 people in 2010, an increase of about 15 percent since 2000. During that same period, the city's debt grew from about $616 million to $1.4 billion, a 130 percent increase. And Combs said the city's bond election this fall, seeking about $470 million, would increase debt by an additional 32 percent.

Listen bud. If you think I'm going to search for something I think doesn't even exist you are sorely mistaken. As Z has said earlier, PROVE IT! I don't think you can.

It's your research you f*ckin child. You presented the information with no citation. Is that how you wrote papers in school? Did you tell your professors to research the facts you presented for you? You really are a f*ckin moron.

You are the one cursing me out.

I gave you the website. The Poll I referenced was from the El Paso Times.

I have issues with the El Paso Times and Wikipedia. However, both can be found on the internet.

The information is there, choose to believe or choose not to believe. It really doesn't matter to me.

I'm simply giving out the information.

Information, like pain is free, give people as much as they want.

I get your point but it's off the mark.

I did not make a claim that actually isn't true.

I posted information from http://www.elpasotimes.com

It wasn't something that I just made up.
