So do we fire him now? Or wait til season is over?
Wondering how the rest of you feel.
Price said this was his best team. Yet his offensive display in 2 games has not been good... not good at all.

I'm not feeling the rage. Let's see what happens against NMSU and the conference games. He's gone at the end of the season.

What bothers me most is the mental aspect of it. They played like they were totally unprepared mentally.
Price just can't seem to get them mentally ready to play. I'm convinced he never will.

Fire him five years ago.

I'm not seeing the rage either.
Every one should have known that they would not win their first two games.
As I have said before, the NMSU game is the most important one.

IF he loses this Saturday, he should be gone by Monday. IMHO

It would be pointless to let him go in the middle of the season.
Let the man finish the season and then step down with some dignity.

If he loses to NMSU with his "best team" he will have lost all dignity already.

This may very well be his best team but they are playing by far the best competition this season than they have ever seen.
So just because it is his best team doesn't necessarily mean that they should win all of their games nor should we expect them to.
NMSU is no push over.

In all the posts I have seen, this has to be your most asinine post yet, Fit. CMP can lose every non-conference game from now til the cows come home, but he better win against NMSU. That's what the donors, season-ticket holders, fans, and even administration expect. If he doesn't meet those expectations, then he should be expecting for his a$$ to meet the curb.

All good points made above. Still, Mike Price has elevated UTEP Football. We should let him finish the season. The contract is fulfilled. We move on. He deserves that.

RE: So do we fire him now? Or wait til season is over?
A solid win vs NMSU is what we should expect and I sure hope we get it. After that, believe it or not, if UTEP sharpens up a bit on execution, they could beat Wisconsin. I've seen (on tv) both Wisconsin games, a close win over Northern Iowa (fcs) and a 10-7 loss at Oregon St. That's Oregon St, not Oregon. Wisconsin is a big, lumbering team, not a speedy team like Ole Miss.
Wisconsin is struggling and just fired their OL coach.
Whether the Miners are 1-3 or 2-2 going into conference play, UTEP has a team that can compete well with all C-USA teams. So if the Miners beat NMSU, ECU, SMU, Tulane, Houston, USM and Rice (all winnable games) then I expect Mike Price will have the choice to retire or stay another year, given that this was the toughest schedule he's had since he has been here. If he falls short that he has no choice, he has to resign/retire.

Price needs to finish the season and gracefully retire
MIW, what do you think the score of the Wisconsin game will be? I'm not near as optimistic as you are. I see us losing by at least three tds.

I don't disagree. I'm simply saying that It does the team no good to fire the man now. He is clearly going to either step down or be replaced at the end of the year anyway.
I say let finish the season. There is still a chance that they win the conference.

Your 1st statement on Price needing to retire.... I think you're probably right. He just looks pooped out there and it's a demanding job.
On the Wisconsin game, before the season started I was really dreading this game. I saw it as another opportunity for Wis to put 60 or more points on an opponent and they are not shy about doing that. But now, after watching both teams play 2 games, I think UTEP can hang with the Badgers. But the Miners will need to start executing a little better. Way too many points have been left on the field in both games. UTEP could pull the upset in my opinion but it won't be easy.
