This helps the PAC 12 and BIG TEN keep their big games with Notre Dame.
Notre Dame plays these opponents every year:
BIG TEN
1. Michigan
2. Michigan State
3. Purdue
4. Stanford
5. Southern California
6. Boston College
7. Navy
The ACC locks up the rest of the 5 games. This helps the ACC but sucks for FSU and Clemson. Basically, Notre Dame agreed to this to get a shot at the four team play off.
This sucks for the ACC if ND has 10-1 or 9-2 season because they will always get the nod for the play off over the ACC Champion unless they happened to play head to head during that season.
The Big 12, BIG TEN, PAC 12 and SEC like this because it damn near locks out the ACC Champion from competing for the National Championship.
A Michigan-Michigan State-USC-Stanford win over ND equates to a win over the ACC. However, a Notre Dame over a Michigan or USC does not equate to an ACC win over the PAC 12 or BIG TEN.
Basically, the best of the Big East moved to the ACC and brought Notre Dame with them with the same deal which destroyed the BIG EAST. CRAZY!!!
The basketball schools have won. FSU and Clemson should be making calls to the Big 12 right now.
ND doesn't play BC every year.
ND's schedule will look like
1-5 ACC
6 Michigan
7 Michigan St
8 Purdue
9 Stanford
10 USC
11 Navy
with 1 game left for flexibility.
The new system did NOTHING to hurt ND at all. If they were 12-0, they would have been in the playoff. PERIOD.

I suspect that they will rotate Michigan and Purdue to give themselves more flexibility. Maybe skip a couple of years for Mich. St. and Stanford as well. I think the only two games ND is certain to play every single year are U$C and Navy.

I'd say Stanford is a guarantee game as well(to guarantee them a west coast game every year).

For the Big 12, I think their days are numbered. In 13 years, if not sooner, we'll see that conference broken up, and the era of the 4 super-conference is upon us. Big 12 made some massive mistakes here this summer and didn't take advantage of the situation.
Nope. We're all good here, but thanks for playing.
I do agree with your point that the Big 12 screwed up this summer. They fiddle farted around with Notre Lame while FSU and Clemson were ready to bolt. There in lies the mistake. Not getting Notre Lame as a leeching member of the Big 12 was NOT a mistake, but a very large blessing.

Navy could be the new Northwestern, which was ND's opener for a long time. In my opinion, ND has to play Navy, MSU, Purdue, and USC every year. I know Stanford is a rather recent mainstay, but other west coast schools could work. Pittsburgh and Boston College will now be ACC games. Michigan, although a great rivalry, is still a pretty recent development.

Same as Boise State in football and Gonzaga in basketball. Georgetown is also a national school; they draw a lot of students from the northeast.
Sure, but Georgetown also happens to be in the Northeast.

So it is official... the ACC has no backbone, and they have become the new Big East... all bending over backwards and contorting themselves to land prestigious Notre Dame and then the Irish will make sure their marquee is void of the ACC.
Notre Dame won't appear in standings, they will SHOUT from the mountain tops about their FOOTBALL INDEPENDENCE -- and yet they'll have access to ALL the ACC non-BCS bowl slots and even the BCS bowl level -- the Irish have their own Orange Bowl agreement to play opposite the ACC and/or into a playoff slot if they meet the ranking requirements anyway! The ACC is getting hosed worse than the Big East ever did with this arrangement!
