A friend of mine brought this up and he is usually full of it, but he makes a good point. This is the first year in a long while where the big ten champ isn't in the top 10 in the BCS rankings. Do they have to give us a bid despite that? I know that we will get the bid, it is just a situation that hasn't arisen in a while.

The only way the BigTen or any BCS conference loses its auto-bid is if the champion doesn't average a top12 finish over a four year span, and even then the BCS is not obligated to kick the league out.
This year and next year don't really matter in that regard, b/c the BCS resets in 2006 with the 5th bowl... this is to give the BigEast time to rebuild, essentially.
