Long subjects cause errors on reply (was: Hey Mods)
I've noticed a few threads here and there on this board when I go to reply I get an error message that says the message has to be 85 characters or less.

Problem is the message will be something like: I agree.

No way that's 85 characters. Can ya'll do a check and see what's the deal?

RE: Hey Mods
It's probably a reply to a thread with a longass title. What I do when I get that message is delete everything past "re:".

RE: Hey Mods
This is when the "Post Subject" (You'll find it between your "Username" and "Post Icon" above the "Your Message" on the "Post Reply" screen) has too many characters in it, not your actual message. Normally folks don't change this when they post a reply (example: RE: Hey Mods). Usually this happens when someone makes a thread title with near 85 characters, then when someone replies, the "RE:" at the front puts it over 85 characters.

I don't see this as an issue. Folks should make subject titles brief when they make new threads.

The problem is that the initial thread title is within the limit, but reply posts get RE: added and that pushes it over the limit. And, it's still a problem. See this thread as an example: http://csnbbs.com/showthread.php?tid=595474

The biggest pain point is that you can't modify the subject of your reply when you use the quick reply box at the bottom of a thread. If it had a subject box on the quick reply, it'd be a tolerable situation I think.
