I thought Kempt opened up his recruiting after Jones left? I heard he wanted to go to UT pretty bad after Jones went there. We recruited another QB and life went on. Guess things didn't work out for Kempt and now there is sour grapes. Does Hall realize there are other teams out there with better talent than Massillon?

He sure did that right after CBJ left, so screw him. Looks like CBJ and company are not recruiting him very much right now.

Can't have it both ways. Kempt's coach needs to relax. Kid opened his recruitment and the school reacted.

Kempt decommitted and said he was not going to consider UC anymore right after Jones left. We offered and accepted a commitment from another QB and at that point were done recruiting the position. Now he is upset that we can't be his fallback since Jones doesn't want him at UT? Too damn bad.

Bingo. That article was basically a way to throw some shade on UC. the reporting was shoddy as it left a lot unclear and unstated. Feels like an attempt to force the staff's hand. Poor form coach.

Heard them them discuss this story on 97.1FM in Columbus today. They tied this story in with the alleged story about TT leaving the recruits at the steakhouse to portray this staff and TT in a very bad light. Someone better start telling "The Rest of the Story" (as Paul Harvey used to say) and do some PR before more coaches in Ohio start black balling us.

No doubt. TT and crew are off to a horrible start in the state.

As an admitted fairweather UC football fan, I am disappointed in the Kempt decommitment. I don't follow football, but I followed this kid and was anxious to see him as a Bearcat. And if he got my attention, I'm sure he got other wishy washy fans attention too.

Just another miss on UC's part.

To Chatter's point I'm definitely disappointed Kempt isn't coming to Cincinnati since he looked like a really, really good prospect. Maybe not a gamechanger right away but could have developed into a nice starting quarterback. But to FL's point, I'm questioning myself because as of now even Butch Jones doesn't seem interested right now to bring him to Tennessee. Although I'm not certain that CBJ hasn't reached out to him and Kempt is weighing his options of going to Tennessee or a different program.

I don't care if Jones wants him now or not. TT and Gran wanted someone else. All I need to hear. End of story.

Based on the commitments of Branisel and Wiesman to Tennessee, I doubt that's the case.

Denial about what? He decommitted on his own. Heck, BJ doesn't even want him anymore at UT. If he is such a big time recruit, why aren't other top programs beating down his door?

He's a very accruate passer, but I think he lacks in mobility which is a problem for TT. I think WVU likes him but with all the negative around him, many maybe shying away at this time.

I remember a previous highly regarded QB coming out of Tigerland, signed with Ohio State - who rewrote the state's passing records at the time. And I remember what a huge bust he turned out to be.

It's fairly obvious that Kempt isn't sought after as much as he and his high school coach think. By opening up his recruitment again, he gambled that Butch wanted him at UT - which an offer never came. UC saw this as an opportunity to look at other prospects, and decided to offer another player.

By his gambling, Kempt hurt himself - he has only himself to blame, and others that influenced him to change his mind - maybe coach Hall?

This is sour grapes and an attempt to black ball UC into re-offering Kempt. The use of media in an attempt to point the finger at UC for wrong doing is a pathetic attempt by both Kempt and Hall to cover thier gamble that didn't work out.

I find this whole thing amusing considering that this happens every season during coaching changes - yet for some reason this story along with the Tech steakhouse story are making big headlines while other similar stories aren't. It would really help if journalists spent time to fact check thier stories - in both cases, both stories would never have been printed if they were correctly investigated.

I agree whole heartedly Flip. I read an interview on Bearcatlair that Coach Gran had called him. Coach Gran indicated in the interview he wanted Kyle, Klye told him he was happy with Cincinnati but wanted to open his recruiting. I do believe now he thought he would get an offer from Tennessee, but since has not. Now he is trying to blame it all on UC. I feel Coach Jones is as culpable as anyone, anywhere. He offered the kid, moved and backed out. My understanding is he wants to get into the Engineering school at UC. Obviously this story came from Massillon. I think alot of the national negative publicity is coming out of Texas. Many associated with Texas Tech are reeling over the TT decision to go to Cincinnati. Even Stewart Mandel, a national journalist with SI said the Kingsbury hire at Texas Tech is an A and the UC hire with TT is a C -. Really???? This guy is a real journalist??? How dare Tommy T. leave the great state of Texas.!!!. He dared and he did !!!!!!

Kempt was offered by UCONN, probably after Weist was picked up as their new OC. Good fit for him.
