When will the basketball practice facility be up and running?

RE: ODU Master Plan
What about the Powhatan Sports Complex? It seems that would be the only feasible place to build a new stadium. ODU could buy into neighborhoods on either end of campus, but that could be very expensive. If we build a new stadium, we would have two football stadiums. I haven't heard of a school with two stadiums. In my opinion, it looks like we will just expand.

My plan for the water front stadium is where the old dorms are located, next to the golf course

we built separate field hockey and soccer stadiums so they didn't have to play at foreman anymore.

RE: ODU Master Plan
If you're wanting more parking garages other than the ones already on the master plan, why not just bulldoze The Inn, and then make a parking garage there. The Inn is fairly old, and the lot is large enough for a medium size parking garage. Close enough to campus to make it easy to walk to and from, but isolated enough that it doesn't take away from the surrounding aesthetics on campus.
Also: Why would ODU need 3 stops on the Tide? How much would an extra 1.5 miles of construction cost? I'm guessing a bunch.

3 stops as it goes passed ODU on the way to the base? I think they were doing studies to see what the best path would be. Go up Colley or down Hampton, etc.

I would think Hampton Blvd is the logical choice. I don't see how you could configure Colley to fit an additional rail car with the existing 2-way traffic.

Agreed. The only snafu I can think of with that is at the tracks where Hampton goes under them. LR would have to go over. Easiest way to do that I would imagine is down near Colley or even Colonial.

RE: ODU Master Plan
Here we go, had to find it:
http://insidebiz.com/news/hrt-redefines-its-mission
"The proposed route would wend down Boush Street to Llewellyn Avenue to 27th Street, over to Hampton Boulevard, to ODU and the base.
Wright said the route would touch Ghent Square, Harrison Opera House, Ghent and Park Place and would be a cheaper alternative than a Hampton Boulevard or Church Street route."

It will be interesting to see how they do lightrail with the big semis going up and down Hampton.
Also closer to Little Creek and Hampton is where the next tunnel (right at the terminals) are to be built... so they would have to dodge that and more train traffic.

In speaking with Dr. Broderick, he said he would like to start in Spring of 2013. Not sure how long to complete. It is a privately funded venture so not sure when all the money would be needed, however he said if we got to a certain amount we could start in 2013.

RE: ODU Master Plan
I wasn't living in the area when The Tide's route was originally approved. So, can someone explain to me why it isn't at ODU or NOB Norfolk already?

No point in attempting to explain stupidity.

ODU should ask VCU how they did it.
