dont forget the academic problems uconn has had ie see not eligible for post season this year because of low apr.because its probably a forgone conclusion that more teams will leave whenever the sec decides to jump to 16 we could just compromise. take uconn, louisville and cincinnati putting uconn in coastal division while louisville/cincy into atlantic or take this opportunity to adjust the divisions completely

If by "adjust" you mean put VT in the Big East division then you should probably go ahead and invite another school now.

Now that we don't have to protect UVa / Maryland, we can go true zipper all the way.

SU / BC
UofL / Pitt
VT / Va
WF / Duke
NCSt / UNC
GT / Clemson
Miami / FSU

Looks good to this Hokie! What say the rest?

I was thinking that the best way to do this would be to add Louisville to Coastal and move GT to Atlantic (to satisfy FSU and Clemson). UL/Clemson and GT/UVa as crossovers.

Meh. I'd rather play UNC and Pitt than Cuse or UofL or WF or NCST. Maybe even Miami too.

I'd like it more if you switched UNC w/ NCSU... But I do likes.

if that's true, Clemson and FSU have no choice but to go Big 12, probably with Ga Tech and Miami....

It's close to what I thought.... what woudl be left-
BC, Syracuse, Pittsburgh, Virginia, UNC, Wake, Duke , and now UConn.... Makes you wonder if B10 comes and takes UVA, UNC- what is left? Does the 12 team ACC dissolve the ACC at that point?

This is what should happen:

FSU/GT/Miami/Clemson to the Big 12

Virginia Tech/NC State to the SEC

UNC/Virginia to the Big 10

BC, Syracuse, Pitt, UConn, Wake and Duke go form a conference with the rest of the leftovers. If the Big 12 ever went to 16, they should probably look at Pitt/Louisville first.

FSU absolutely has to leave now. Half of their divisional opponents are going to be fricken UConn, BC, and Syracuse because we know this crappy league won't realign. That is a joke. Lose the DC/Baltimore market for recruiting and now have NY/Boston/CT. Terrible.

Um, we went back to 8 games, pretty sure we'll realign. With UMD gone it allows for more options.

RE: UConn to ACC as early as tomorrow
If Clemson and GT both aren't with FSU, then the realign isn't being done properly. I still have my doubts that the league will even realign. If they gave FSU a division with GT, Clemson, Louisville and NC State then the ACC would still make more sense than the Big 12. Just do the smart thing and add Louisville and then swap Cuse or BC with GT.

RE: UConn to ACC as early as tomorrow
Source: ACC favors UConn, Louisville to replace Maryland

The ACC is leaning heavily toward adding a 14th team to replace Maryland and has two favorites for the spot -- UConn and Louisville -- according to a source with knowledge of the situation.

The ACC is also in talks with South Florida and Cincinnati, according to the source, and could add "pretty quickly." Factors on the decision include geography and television market viability, on-field performance and academic success.

All eyes are on the ACC as it protects its own after the Big Ten poached Maryland, a founding member. The league was blindsided by the move but wasn't totally shocked given Maryland's struggling financial department and the school's administrative turnover without an allegiance to the conference's tradition.

This isn't great timing for the Big East, which is immersed in television negotiations with ESPN, NBC Sports Network and others.

Among the four, Louisville's probably a better football/basketball program pound-for-pound, but UConn is the better TV market.

RE: UConn to ACC as early as tomorrow
Sometimes the more you add, the more easily you can get back to traditional rivalries. I think we need to think more outside of the box in regards to divisions and figure out a way to get back to more meaningful games. Let's stop pretending that BC and VT are rivals for instance...there have to be better ways to do this even if we have to hire a mathematician to make schedules for us.

RE: UConn to ACC as early as tomorrow
Syracuse, Wake Forest, Duke and Boston College should be split evenly between the 2 divisions.

Florida State-Miami
Clemson-Virginia Tech
Georgia Tech-Virginia
NC State-North Carolina
Wake Forest-Duke
Louisville-Pitt
Syracuse-Boston College

Something like that....
