So if the ACC falls apart where does Pitt go
I honestly can't foresee Pitt sitting still. Of course we'd need 50M to pay the exit fee to leave the ACC.

B1G Option: I really don't see this happening. We're totally located in the wrong spot. Our best hope is ND hand picking Pitt. Anything is possible, but who knows.

Big XII Option: I really don't see this as a soft landing spot. They're a minute away from Texas complaining about something, and bolting & taking some members with them.

Outside the box...

SEC: We would provide the SEC with market reach into the North East to compete with the B1G. Biggest problem is we're not southern yada. Every other conference is going outside of its current market reach so who knows, could be feasible 5-10 years from now.

PAC: Totally outside the box. Would have to have 3 other Eastern schools with us to form a quad. Hey, if UConn and SDSU is in the same league who TF knows what else could happen.

Independent: Would be extremely tough to pull off. And isn't really an long term option.

ACC: May not be apart of the Big 3 but a longterm league with Miami, WVU, Pitt, Cuse(?), N. Carolina Schools, Louisville, Cincy may not be that bad. But the problem with the ACC is that its not part of the Big 3 and will get the shaft long term.

Nordy and Steve see us as an academically elite hoops school. Like Duke... football is a nuisance. They stand pat in the ACC. They like it there...

I don't trust Pederson to do anything for us. I believe what 7fielder said to be true to a degree. Pederson obviously saw no value in our football history as he tried to change our name, colors, logo, etc. in the 90s. Why would he care about the football tradition we have at this time?

I would hope that he and Nordenburg would be forward thinking enough to realize that football drives the bus and that being in a basketball first conference is not an option for the long term success of the program and is even not a option for the long term success of basketball. Football dollars continually help teams in power conferences perform in basketball. Our football program isn't a money maker but that doesn't mean that we shouldn't be exploring every option to make it one. That's where their heads need to be.

That said, I don't trust Pederson at all. I have faith in Nordenburg, but he has shown strong devotion to Pederson. I'm not sure what to make of that but I know I don't like it.

If these last coaching searches prove anything it is that Nordy has complete faith in SP. Unlike MD, we are fiscally in the black, the football team (despite the coaching turmoil) is not a disgrace, they are at least average to competitive and the hoops program is a yearly contender. They got us into an elite athletic conference in terms of athletics and the football team cost very little overhead. I think Nordy likes exactly where Pitt sits in the ACC even if they become totally raided as long as teams like Duke and Wake Forest remain.
