RE: Southern Miss and Marshall
Tulane going to the Big East completely eliminates the possibility of USM going. The only hope we had was that the Big East counted New Orleans as our TV market. With Tulane in the mix, that market is theirs and we are stuck with maybe Jackson as our best TV market.

03-idea Tulane to the BE proves...Anything is possible. Hang in there dude. I have a feeling we are going to have a long continued relationship. BTW...You do understand that the votes in 2014 will be solidly in the hands of old CUSA schools?

I don't see any old CUSA schools holding the torch for USM now so I don't expect that to change in the future. Congrats on the move, BTW. I can understand why the nBE took you guys although it should've been all sports. Tulane..not so much.

Telling it like it is. Feel the same way about Boise and SD State. You're selling your soul to the Big East for what? Nothing. Then at the same time you're screwing over your other teams. Its not personal. I love ECU as much as I love Memphis, Southern Miss, and UAB. However, Im not going to bend over and kiss ass just becuase ECU chooses that road.

As long as it ends up being a temporary move for the olympics it isn't throwing them under the bus. ECU baseball and softball have loyal followings and will continue to draw well at home. They can easily win the A10 or CAA or wherever we park them. Basketball can improve as well in the A10 or CAA. 5-7 years and its okay. Any longer and the programs suffer.

I'll enjoy the payday while you continue to do nothing in CUSA football...hey maybe you can win CUSA now that UCF and ECU have left...jk I wish ECU and Marshall could keep the rivalry going!

You might not be aware that we were going to accept a football only invitation to CUSA back when Bob was our coach. The plan was to park our basketball in the Horizon league, if I remember correctly. Greg White was not a happy camper about the idea, but the plan failed at the twelve hour.

If you could look up the old Herdnation.com board and the old GOHERD.com board you would find me raising hell about splitting up our sports in that way. Ive never been a fan of splitting up sports teams especially if its for nothing.

These Big East lovers are hilarious in thinking they get anything out of this. The AQ days are long gone and the Big East was already labeled with the rest of us and if they think adding more TV markets and even an actual solid football program like ECU is going to make the Roy Kramer types change their view then they are delusional.

Just as I said over and over the Roy Krmaer types were already against a Big Eastr that included WVU, Pitt, Syracuse, etc etc, etc,... So what they are now going to accept the Big East with open arms becuase they add SMU, San Diego State, etc?

Oh thats right they MIGHT make a little more extra money even though ESPN offered them jack.

Ive never been a fan of the oversized and overrated Big East and Im not going to be a fan now after they have and continue to lose all the programs that made it the oversized pile a crap it was. Now its CUSA minus a few teams with a different name.

If Marshall were to sell their basketball team down road for that crap I would be highly pissed

Oh My...That was just rude. That's OK darling...I still love ya.04-cheers

Again its not rude. Its a fact and I would call out any "friend" that I thought was doing something stupid or degrading.

If I were an ECU alum/fan I would be pissed that my alma mater did that.

I would be highly suprised if the A-10 even thinks about ECU since they are such a hoops minded conf and no offense to ECU hoops but its not like you fit that mold. CAA? That is a prime example of screwing over your teams and if any alum/fan is ok then it only proves you dont care about it anyway.

What payday? IF there was a payday then it would of been signed and delivered from ESPN. Now ECU is on the "Big East Payday Bandwagon". 03-lmfao

We screwed up when we had an open invite to the metro conference in the early 90s and didn't take it. Who knows what would have happened at least with our basketball if our admin would have taken the chance then.

Payday? Are you serious?....LOL

I think you will find out soon enough that the "payday" went out the door with WVU, Pitt, Cuse, Rutgers and soon to be Louisville, UCONN and Cincy. At least be realistic about it.

I honestly have very mixed feelings about this. I'm not at all happy about leaving USM and Marshall, not at all. Now we move to a conference full of schools that didn't want us and that I genuinely despise, but the money will hopefully be an improvement? What a damn mess

Seriously the money left when the Who left. The Who became media darlings from ESPN from 2002-2012. They are the only reason the BE lasted as a major conference from 2004-2011. Come next year I don't see but 4 wins for them, maybe 5 if they have an upset along the way.

More than CUSA will be getting..worth the move to me. I'm starting to sense a trend with some Herd fans. Even if we don't get more money I'll be happy we're playing the old CUSA teams instead of the new ones!

I am sorry to see ECU leaving and will miss playing them and also sorry to see most of their fans that post on this board leave as well. I don't think you guys are going to find the gold at the end of the rainbow but I do hope it works out for you. And, who knows how all this will turn out? I think the changes are just beginning.

We'll all be back in the same conference in 3-5 years anyway. This is all temporary.

Guys, the math just doesn't work, the realities of the loss of regional football doesn't work. You are going to end up with the Big 5 (well, Big 4 and the ACC) at 16 teams each. The Mac will stay the MAC, and then you will have about 16 west teams and 16 east teams. That will eventually end up in an eastern conference and a western conference.
