As a Tech fan I would have to argue that - ULL has had good attendance for a couple of seasons but we have had better attendance for the last 20 plus years.
Latech average over 29k last season? Bc ULL did.

What about this season?

Honestly I haven't even looked or cared about looking..Just know Latech is lucky to break 25k at any home game..Was a student there I know

I was just wondering why you were quoting last years' attendance...I figured because it dropped by 25%

I think UL-L would be a good/better addition as far as product on the field goes. Their football has now gone to back to back bowl games and their baseball team has traditionally been very good. Not sure of their basketball but how many times are schools above average in all 3 of the Big 3 sports. Granted it's only about 4 hours away from USM but Lafayette has always traveled well to Hattiesburg and has had good attendance at home events. You can't argue with their baseball/football tailgaiting as it's one of the best you will find. With no presence in south Louisiana with Tulane leaving, I feel like they have more to bring to the table. The only downside I guess is the same that's holding back USM and that's we are in a small media market.

Dude, Thank you for that.

No we don't have the biggest market. But, like you said, we have a great fan base that travels very well. I've always loved playing USM in baseball over the years as it seems our teams really seem to match up well. UL baseball has been to the College World Series and makes Regionals every other year or so. Basketball has been slow the last 5 years but every program goes through a trough every now and then. It will pick up.

The real strides UL has made is in Football obviously and with a new Ragin Cajun Athletic Fund that has allowed alums to dump money into athletics, things are picking up rapidly.

I think we would be a great asset to CUSA, especially with Tulane leaving and filling the void of south Louisiana.

GEAUX CAJUNS!

Besides, the term "Ragin' Cajuns" is known throughout the nation. They may not all know exactly where the Cajuns play, But I guarantee you the name Ragin' Cajuns sticks in the minds of college sports fans across the country.

I really hope we play Rice in the New Orleans Bowl so we can show you what a real football team looks like.

I enjoy playing you guys in baseball every year, even though you usually have the upper hand haha. Isn't Rice coming to UL this season in Baseball? I believe we have home games with Rice, Tulane, and USM this season.

UL is doing the right things down in Lafayette. I see potential, and I'm sure at least some in CUSA see it too. The old SBC schools will probably be vocal for their addition (and / or Arkansas State too).

Geographically speaking the Cajuns make sense. I know LaTech will do all that they can to prevent it, but the additions that CUSA recently made make little sense for strength of conference. I guess the "market" is the most valuable position.

I just don't see how the Cajuns, stAte, and Troy are being left to perish. I hope CUSA stongly considers adding more teams. To me, and I may be biased, but with the exception of Middle, the class of the sunbelt has been forgotten.

Lastly, the Cajuns have made significant strides in athletics and academics. Athletically speaking we've come a long way with the addition of our Ragin Cajun Athletic Foundation. We have an up and coming Football Team, a consistently good Baseball Team, and we're only 5 or so years removed from a multiple 20 win per year basketball team...not to mention a powerhouse in Softball.

You gotta see that the Cajuns are a much better fit than a NMSU??

RE: Why not U La La
I'm a fan. I still don't necessarily see them in CUSA.

* Facilities are not up to par
* Market and academics are only average
* LA Tech doesn't want them

On the plus side:

* Decent geography
* Largest school in a system (won't say flagship 03-wink )
* Flagship of Cajun academia LOL... I'm surprised they don't call themselves the "University of Acadiana"

You guys should cut that crap out. You've shoved the rest of the world down enough with your trickery. You're not the University of Louisiana. You decided to go the snooty route, so you don't get to have a name that implies otherwise. People like me might get tricked into attending.

I am not here to win approval from CUSA or its fans.
CUSA administration has chosen teams that offer poor attendance, no fan support, and teams that have done nothing on the field.

Just this year the players and coach at LaTech complained how the team gets no fan support. Coach Sonny Dykes quoted saying that "it is a disgrace that the fans do not come out to the games."

Then CUSA added FAU, and FIU who average less than 15,000 a game.

On top of that UL, University of Louisiana at Lafayette is the only university except for LSU who has an indoor practice facility in Louisiana. Has approved every year under coach Mark Hudsbeth, and has average above 25,000 in attendance in football. UL has been to the NCAA tournament in basketball, has been to the College World Series in baseball, and has been multiple times to the College World Series in Softball. UL is expanding their stadium to 50,000 seats. Building a brand new baseball facility. Basketball team plays in a top 25 basketball facility, and has built a brand new softball field.

Please tell me what LaTech has done?

I don't recall that quote. I recall him being upset about the fans that left the A&M game down 15 with 2mins to go. Either way, Tech averaged more in attendance this year than ULL.

They actually do call ULL that. It's the official French name.
