They are soliciting opinions on the latest Big Ten expansion. Data is being sent to the league office.

Basically said,

1. No divisions in basketball. The Big Ten champ is determined from the regular season. Don't mess that up with divisions and don't make it so we play some teams less in basketball for divisions.
2. The name is Big Ten. Don't change it and B1G is a little annoying (but acceptable in the logo).
3. Protect traditional rivalries in divisions, with my suggestion being the 4 western schools with the 3 eastern ones and the Ohio/Michigan schools with the Indiana/Illinois schools.

I said the same things. Minus the specifics of how to setup the divisions. I'm not totally sure how I'd do that. I do know that you need to protect a few things no matter what though:
1) Michigan - Ohio State
2) Michigan State - Michigan
3) Indiana - Purdue
4) Illinois - Northwestern
5) Rutgers - Maryland - Penn State
6) Iowa - Nebraska
7) Wisconsin - Minnesota
8) Iowa - Minnesota
9) Iowa - Wisconsin
10) Ohio State - Illinois
etc. etc.

Based on all that I'd say that your idea to have a Division of Ohio State, Michigan, Michigan State, Indiana, Purdue, Illinois and Northwestern and a Division of Minnesota, Nebraska, Iowa, Wisconsin, Penn State, Maryland and Rutgers makes the most sense.

My thoughts as well.

When I did it I told them they should have four divisions and then I listed out my usual suspects. 04-cheers

I ain't even playing around with the Big Ten. They are moving to 16 and they aren't going to use two divisions.
