That's not worse, that's their own damn fault. They got caught breaking the rules and are now paying for it.
And UCF goes to a bowl because they got the hearing deferred.

Can we get a bowl commissioned for them? A one year deal. Someone call up Jackson, MS and see if that stadium is condemned yet.

Because Western Kentucky is not leaving the conference...yet.

I was told that WKU knew that the little ceasars bowl might be the only option and had been campaigning to that bowl for a good period of time. It's hard to come in last second and convince a bowl to start looking at another school just because they got left out from another bowl they wanted. I Truly believe both team should be going to a bowl and it sucks MT got left out, but the Sun Belt had no say in who went to the Little Ceasars bowl and WKU had pushed hard for this bowl early which probably made for the final decision which was made if I was to guess.

And MT had been told not to campaign with any bowl directly by the commish, meanwhile WKU did.

Never heard that before. I could not see leaving the fate of our schools in the hands of the commissioner solely. Either way it was a bad situation and it was going to suck for somebody

Not happening. We're too important to making their lives easier. If we become a new division, they lose the ability to schedule multiple games against us OOC. You think SEC schools want to trade their OOC schedule of 1 FCS, 2 SBC, and 1 MAC, for 1 game from the "new division" and 3 games against the rest of the top tier?
You think the schools that consistently find themselves at the bottom of the power conferences are going to like being turned into the new OOC fodder for the tops of other conferences? Do you think schools like Vandy can be bought for a one game payday for anywhere near what a current non-AQ can be?
If it happened, the top schools would be looking for those one game contracts with the likes of Vandy/Northwestern/Wake etc. and they can all afford to tell them to pound sand. When Ohio State calls Akron for a game, they say here's $750k come get your brains beat in and Akron signs the dotted line and collects their paycheck and hopes that maybe, just maybe, they have a chance at making it a game. If Ohio State tried the same thing with Vandy, Vandy could say give us $5 million, give us a return game, or look elsewhere.

RE: So.....MTSU wanna play??
All the Sun Belt had to do was sign a contract many months ago to be the first back-up option for the Beef O Brady Bowl and MTSU would be in the postseason. Instead the far off MAC somehow convinced the Beef O Brady Bowl to give them a back-up deal despite being a whole lot further away.

It is true. The meeting and decision came in October, and was called by the Commish once it was likely that several SBC teams were bowling.
Massaro has been to 3 bowl games with MT. He knows his way around the block in dealing with the committees.
