You also have some nuns and priests bouncing a basketball full of prestige and money. In the other corner you've got small market renegades who just got poached by said conference and you expect me to believe they are going to take, not 1, not 2, but 4 teams from the BE? I will concede the MWC commish has some great hair.

I understand what you're saying and don't really find that there's a hugely compelling argument for Houston and SMU to trade all-sports membership in the Big East for the MWC, in particular. The Big East makes sense for those 2 Central Time Zone-based athletic departments. Boise State and SDSU, on the other hand, might be in a different boat as football-only members. IF (and that's a big if to me) the MWC can renegotiate its TV deal (which seems to be the entire crux of why those 2 schools chose to leave), then the situation is different if they're better off in a new all-sports MWC deal. To me, what Boise State does is key because wherever they go, the TV money will likely follow.

The nBE is almost dead and we will soon see a resurgence of the MWAC 16.

I mentioned in one of my posts on another thread where I was at a fundraiser for Wyoming about a week and a half ago. Some things were said in more of a informal setting after the fundraiser.

But like I learned that night, there is so many what ifs. Has there been dialogue between BSU, SDSU, and some of the other schools and the MWC, yes.

Like everyone already knows, everyone is waiting to see what TV contract the Big East is going to get. If the MWC can get somewhere in the neighborhood (which I doubt), then you will see some move back to the MWC or move their programs over.

Just trust me when I say this, the Big East is talking with TV execs before every move they make, the MWC is giving the TV execs every possible combination they can come up with as well and sharing that info to other schools. Personally, I would love to see that MWC get some of these schools, I just don't think they can offer anything relatively close.

I can say the MWC is not really looking at anything bigger than 16, BYU is a very unlikely, but we all know never say never. Replace them with UTEP and you pretty much nailed it.

That wouldnt be a bad conference. The Big East can get more, but Im starting to wonder if they are ever going to be able to hold together any configuration long enough to earn a contract.
