El Paso's ABC-7: UTEP turned down a series with Miami
According to a twitter from the Miami AD, UTEP turned down what might have been a home and home series with Miami with the 'Canes going to El Paso first next year. If that's true, I wonder why UTEP didn't agree with the series. I remember years ago when Price was in his first year or two at UTEP, there rumors UTEP turned down a home and home with Minnesota and Virginia which is weird considering UTEP signed a 1-1 with Buffalo and Louisiana-Lafayette and played a game at South Florida. 01-wingedeagle

He didn't say if it was 1 for 1 or maybe 2 for 1. Quite crazy to turn down if it was a home & home.

That's why I wrote "what might have been" because it could have been a 2-1 but at least Miami offered to come first something Texas, Oklahoma, Texas Tech and Kansas did when UTEP signed those deals with said schools. I'm sure our AD had good reasons not to sign that deal with Miami.

Memphis and Miami series got dropped....but we picked up UCLA. Maybe shopping for a easy win.

I'd have no problem with a 2 for 1 with Miami.

Matt Smith of KVIA claims the Miami AD said it as a 1 for 1.

UTEP should have taken it but maybe with a new coach our AD is looking for a more winnable game. Otherwise I have no idea.

If it was a 1-for-1 AND the first game @El Paso, then some explaining is in order. A 2-for-1 would depend on what your fanbase/admins think

Miami isn't quite what it was when Kellen Winslow, Andre Johnson, Ed Reed and Willis McGahee were on campus.

A new tweet quotes our AD as saying we already had a contract pending with another school. I've heard we are working on a home and home with Arizona. Maybe that's it. I hope so.

Don't feel bad. After we played at Miami and were to have both Virginia Tech & Miami at home in the same year our old AD told Miami oh don't worry about coming you can just call it a day. We'd rather play some suckass birch 1-AA team.

That was a travesty.

Like you turn down the payday if you're UTEP...even if they do get taken to the woodshed, they get more out of it than if they clock NMSU.

Everything is a trade-off.

Tx A&M will be great for UTEP fans to watch

Miami would be a game in which the Miners might have a chance.

The only negative thing is Miami offered a 1 & 1. I think this is just a road trip to Texas A&M. We are only going to have 5 home games next year.

Turns out to be a payday for us at T A&M. Should be big money so I hope it pays for conference relocation.
