Have ACC acquire BE
This thought occurred to me previously. Why wouldn’t the ACC approach Aresco and offer to have the ACC acquire the BE, in its structure ? The ACC could setup a separate division for the bball only schools, and put the fball schools in the full ACC division ?
That way, no exit fee problems to deal with, the ACC is the undisputed king of college bball, and having already nailed down an ESPN deal, get favorable visibility for the bball only members.
The ACC has to know that they aren’t getting any bigtime fball programs to jump their way, so why not be proactive and tie up the bball world, and take a chance that every few years a Lville, Pitt, Cincy, Clemson, FSU will crack the BCS party ?

lol wow, maybe one of the worst ideas i've heard. As bad as CUSA thinking they'll take the big east schools back, and as bad as big east last year thinking they'd just scoop up the big 12 schools. Why wouldn't the ACC just cherry pick the best programs from the BE and leave out all the trash at the bottom?

RE: Have ACC acquire BE
It's pretty inevitable at this point that the non football members will soon break away and no longer be a part of the once known Big East while current members Connecticut and Cincinnati along with probably Memphis and Temple, will be in the ACC before long. Those are the only schools remaining that the ACC could save face with without watering down it's conference the way the Big East did by going far, far west to try and save its BCS AQ. Which didn't work on top of that.
Boise State and San Diego State along with Houston and SMU will all rejoin/join the MWC to make it the best non BCS conference.
Tulane, East Carolina....sorry but you were too late to the party. Turn around and go back.

Why? Because ESPN says so? I'll pass, I don't want any of that bunk weed.

Thats exactly what they would do. But virtually all BE programs, as of today, bring something to the table.
