ODU's Taylor Heinicke wins Walter Payton Award!
It's basically the FCS version of the Heisman Trophy. Huge honor!

Considering he has two years left, he's in the unique position to play full seasons against FCS and FBS programs. It'll be interesting to see what he can do against the FBS.

Nice! Marshall has a Walter Payton Award winner as well. Michael Payton won it in on the 92 championship team.

Wow....Congrats to Taylor. He should be the perfect leader to help transition you guys over to FBS. We had one of those special QB's that played both FCS and FBS during our transition (Chad Pennington). Congrats Monarchs!

To Luke...I think Marshall was robbed of 2 other Walter Payton awards. I think Chad Pennington should have beat Montana's Dave Dickerson in 1995 and Randy Moss should have won it in 1996 over Archie Amerson of Northern Arizona.

Congrats! This is exactly the type of player/leader you would want on your team at a time transitioning from FCS to FBS. Should make things much smoother. I'm already anticipating him giving us fits next year.
