Speaking of which, where is the new brewery going to be?

Edit: Nevermind, found the answer. Glad to hear y'all are getting some new digs and can't wait to visit.

RE: Official Beer Tread
Something not really mentioned about the O'Connor black Saturday event is that each brewer did a small batch of their favorite style of beer. Included is a Belgian Dubbel, oyster stout, cranberry red ale, scotch ale (wee heavy), Weizen bock, pecan porter, and my west coast style ipa. We will be tapping these throughout the event and each one of these tastings will be free once inside the event. Our best work is done when we brew what we want and it's rare that we do. Come out and taste what we have to offer that day.

Not sure if anyone else noticed, but this is now available at Total Wine in Ghent. Bought a couple 4-packs the other day. Buy some before it runs out. It is the best bourbon barrel beer for your money, though Boulevard and Allagash give it a good run.

I had one of these today and I also had founders kbs and surly darkness 2012 and 2013. Unfortunately, these can't be found in the area at the time.

They opened up in September with some really big and innovative beers. I've had jet noise double ipa, pineapple grenade hefe, and their pale ale (forget the name). Jet noise is fantastic but they can't always get the hops to make it. Pineapple grenade is like drinking pineapple juice. I know they actually just mix the beer with juice. The one time I had their pale ale it was oxidized and tasted of stale cardboard. I heard their semper fipa is awesome but, I know they can't always get the hops for that either. Tom and Neil are awesome guys and I definitely recommend checking them out.

This is a fantastic brewery, let's hope this happens. Their Arrogant Bastard, Levitation Ale, IPA and Ruination IPA are all top shelf.

I'm interested in FatMonarch's thoughts, since this would directly his wonderful brewery. But I agree, this would be good for Norfolk. Adding Stone to the group of O'Connors, Smartmouth, Young Veterans, Beach, Green Flash, St. George and Williamsburg AleWerks would help further establish Hampton Roads as a craft brew destination, ultimately bringing more tourists to our area and hopefully more notoriety for the great local brews already here.

RE: Official Beer Tread
Honestly, I would be ecstatic personally to have Stone come local as they are one of my favorite breweries. San Diego's beer culture is one where breweries are friends and there is always room for more. Green Flash is collaborating with Smartmouth on a saison and they have also offered up their lab for all local breweries to culture yeast. As long as Stone sticks with the friendly approach and offer up resources that us smaller breweries can't get, it'll be a win. Plus with Green flash and possibly Stone coming, this place will be a beer Mecca and that can't do anything but help the craft beer community as a whole.

Speaking of beer...

Dogfish Head World Wide Stout.

http://www.dogfish.com/brews-spirits/the...-stout.htm

Awesome stuff IMHO. Two of these and a rough week is firmly in the rearview for sure. If there is a beer with Cameraman's seal of approval, this it it.

**I picked a few of these up at Hop & Wine in Fredericksburg on my last run through town. Great establishment if anyone here is local.

At 18% abv, I think two of these would knock me out. I know A.w. Shucks had some in bottles a couple weeks ago. If you get a bottle, I suggest aging it a few years. I had 2010 version this fall and it was way better than a fresh 2014 bottle.

There seems to be a ton of microbreweries popping up lately. Just in the last few weeks, I've heard about two new ones. Big Ugly Brewing Company will be opening on Battlefield Ave. in Chesapeake this summer and Pleasure House Brewing will open on Shore Drive late in the summer.

Nice. The more the better. Back Bay Brewing, which has been around for a while, opened a tasting room not too long ago on Norfolk Ave in VB. Definitely worth a visit and it's dog friendly.
