Ridiculous that he wasn't invited to the PTI. SHame on whoever selects the teams.

Basically it's a one year deal that isn't guaranteed, and allows players to earn a bonus of $5,000 to $50,000 in the event that they are waived by the NBA team, then sign a deal with that franchise’s G League affiliate. This type of contract only works for NBA teams that have a G League team (formerly called D League)

Happy to see Caver given an opportunity, hope he makes the most of it!

Thanks for the explanation. Does that mean he will be on the bench during the season, and possibly play?
I think it's a possibility, but if I'm reading this right it makes it easy to put him on their G League team and it's advantageous for both the team and player in that regard. Hoping someone more knowledge chimes in

Caver Waived................Likely headed to G League.

The Grizzlies continue to shuffle players on and off their 20-man preseason roster, announcing today in a press release that they’ve signed forward Jarrod Uthoff and waived guard Ahmad Caver.

It’s the third consecutive day that the Grizzlies have made a pair of minor roster moves — the club signed Dusty Hannahs to replace Matt Mooney on Monday, then signed Caver and released Hannahs on Tuesday. Those signings are being made for G League purposes, with the Grizzlies either securing affiliate rights or ensuring that returning-rights players will receive Exhibit 10 bonuses.

Quote:Mike Rizzo, the Nats' general manager and president of baseball operations, said the decision to support Hudson "was easy."

"A happy player is a performing player," he said. "We've got to take care of our people. You have to treat this like a family.

"And the important thing is that we've got a new little member of the Nationals family."

Does anyone else find it odd that Hudson took a Southwest Airlines flight from Phoenix to St. Louis in order to get back in time for Game 2? And he sat in coach after getting little sleep.
How is it possible that the Nationals didn't pay for a Wheels Up or other private service? Is that how the Nationals "take care of" their people?

Considering that Doolittle worked the save in Game 1, it should have been a priority that Hudson get a comfortable flight back for Game 2 so he could get some sleep.

There are a lot of professional organizations that would have done something more in that situation.

They tried to charter a jet but there wasn't enough time to get it set up and have him in St. Louis in time.

Nothing to see here, the Nats did everything in their power to have a better flight option.

Well, it was stated by sports writers that follow the team.

I have a buddy who works as a cop at BWI and he escorts players all the time through the airport. He says a lot of teams fly their guys on southwest

I don't doubt that. But this was the playoffs and the situation (Doolittle closed Game 1 and considering the Nats bullpen history and the lack of sleep for Hudson) seemed to call for something out of the ordinary.

A few NFL scouts have visited ODU in the past few weeks. Can anyone tell us who specifically are they interested in?
