Great news on an otherwise meh day...

Boyd finally made a trip to Morgantown this weekend. Although it didn't sound like his mother was much impressed...

This news is very back and forth. Yes his mom isn't happy with WVU but Gibby is relentless and Boyd tweeted tonight that he "has a tough decision to make" which isn't good for Pitt. On the other hand there are rumors that Shelton Gibson (who is close with Boyd) is now gonna visit Pitt this weekend. So, I don't know what to make of it?

If he wasn't sure, I don't know why he came out and stated he was committed in the first place. It didn't stop the vultures from circling him and now if he changes his mind he looks like he broke a commitment.

I agree. I also don't fault people (particularly young men and women) for changing their minds. Tyler's got a lot of life to live and this is a big decision for him. He's got to do what's best for him whether that's going to Pitt or not.

Still - a commitment is a commitment. I don't think it's really good form to continue to entertain the idea of going elsewhere when you're truly committed to a school. He shouldn't have announced a decision in the first place if he wasn't sure about it.

As for Twitter, I don't have much to say. If it's not good form to break a commitment, it's terrible form for grown men to stalk high school athletes on Twitter and then react like little schoolgirls. They should really teach a class on Twitter etiquette at Pitt. McCoy would have benefited from that.

Here's the thing; that tweet could've been about anything in the young mans life from what to get a girl for VDay or who to take to the Prom or anything in general. How people assumed that tweet was only football related baffles me. Hey it could be about an impending decommittment for all I know. But all indications from coach's that I know personally told me it was about nothing.

That's disappointing news. Based on the tone of those comments, I doubt he sticks with his commitment. There's a chance they're being taken out of context but I doubt it.

Here's the deal.

He's going to stick with his commitment. He even said before he made his announcement that he was going to visit schools even after he announced. Yea I know this is turning into a bit of a soap opera and there is some paranoia here. It def been a weird recruiting process for sure. Signing Day can't come quick enough for all of us, the kids themselves, and the parents of the kids.

Clairton, did you read this article? Do you think that Boyd was taken out of context?

This isn't a vague Twitter comment anymore. Now we have Boyd quoted as saying he still has a big decision to make, he felt pressured [to make his commitment] and needs to get back on track [by considering other schools?], and that it felt good to commit to Pitt because he could be reunited with teammates but that now he is considering what is best for him instead.

These aren't the comments of someone who's committed to coming to Pitt. These seem to be the comments of somebody who felt pressured into a situation, now regrets what they did, and may be looking for an angle to get out. Again, I would be shocked to see him stick to his commitment.

I read all of the articles man. I also talk to different people within the Clairton fanbase, Coaches, and such. Everyone is convinced that they'd be shocked if he ends up somewhere else.

I see. I didn't write that to call you out, I was really just curious. I just can't explain his comments if everyone around him thinks he's coming to Pitt. I don't know why he would say these things to the media.
