Renegotiated CUSA TV contract
Why isn't Britton Banowsky trying to renegotiate CUSA's television contract. Over the next two years, CUSA will have several members located in big markets. He could prevent the potential defection of more members if he could renegotiate the contract so that everyone will know how much TV money will be coming in to each member. Craig Thompson just did it and it saved his conference. What's the reason for Banowsky to not do something similar? Surely the TV executives know how much they'll be willing to pay the conference in two years, when all the new members are in place.

RE: Renegotiated CUSA TV contract
The numbers I am hearing thrown around are in the $80mm-$100mm per year range, and those may be conservative. Banowsky just waiting until he gets rid of the rest of the teams he doesn't want before announcing. Some teams are being pretty stubborn though, so it could be a little while before anything is announced.

Calling BS. We would love those numbers, but WTF are you basing this on? Don't be posting crap just to post crap. If you have evidence, my apologies.

My apologies anyway. I had just read the BE board, which is a really stupid thing for anyone from Southern Miss to ever do, and was just about pissed off. Your post was actually pretty funny.

This. You have lost 3 of your 5 best FB programs, Your best BB program, and a # of your best markets. The last thing he wants is to open up TV deal.

We lost absolutely nothing in football, and we lost Memphis in basketball. We should open up negotiations. You're welcome.

Let's see, we added some Big Markets, A few lousy teams and a couple of decent ones.....according to Aresco we should be in line for a huge pay day! Seriously, at the end of the day neither of us is going to have a very good TV contract.

It's not seen now because of the emotional aspects of the Gang of 5 realignment 3 ring circus , but Big Markets will eventually give CUSA a pretty nice upside and you are right....."at the end of the day neither of us is going to have a very good TV contract."

So some schools will eventually have to look at their travel budgets for men and women's varsity sports to see if all the extra travel will be worth it long term because of limited TV revenues.

I am starting to warm up to UTSA. I travel to SA 2-3 times a week and they are a sports starved city. Make fun of their KFC promotions all you want but when all the KFC's have UTSA mentioned on their billboard you will think differently.

Would rather see you guys start warming up to the idea of that team way up north of you. I am looking forward to the upcoming series. You guys have been having some enviable recruiting classes so I am sure we will have our hands full, but looking forward nonetheless.
