RE: "Big East was laughed out of the room"....hits rock bottom.
This story isn't even close to what's being reported in other places,

According to sources familiar with the negotiation process involving SD State, as well as the ongoing television contracts in basketball and football that Aresco and the Big East are conducting, Aresco is also closing in on a multi-network deal with Fox sports, ESPN and NBC/Comcast. The total money figure is in flux because Aresco is working on multiple deals and packages.

What seems to be more clear is that the Big East should be able to finalize a deal which will extend its contract with ESPN in basketball for one more year using an inventory which includes not only the new group of schools such as Memphis and Temple who will be part of the league next season as well as Louisville and Notre Dame, who have announced they are leaving the Big East for the Atlantic Coast Conference.

Once those schools leave and the membership in the Big East is stabilized. Aresco can finalize the conference’s long-term television deal in football and basketball with a variety of networks, although ESPN is expected to maintain some relationship with the Big East.

So do I, and the one time I actually used a connected source on these boards I got hammered (for saying what nobody wanted to hear). People will read what they wanna read and believe what they want to believe. The truth is always closer to what you don't want to happen (but not quite what your enemies want either).

Anyways, still looks like the Big East will get a contract similar to what C*USA got.

Ah, Sportingnews, is one of the sites that where saying ECU had applied to the BE 21 times and said the B-12 was dead.05-stirthepot

If you had actually followed hime the past few years, you'd know he been right a whole lot on these realignment stories.

And, sorry but you stupid if you believe D. Dodd.

The AOL and CBS articles are all a part of ESPN's plot to destroy the Big East.

Dodd has reported that the low end numbers are 30 million a year. Where as the C-USA contract when you add the Fox, CBSsports, and 3rd tier togather equals around 17 million a year. 30 million is still nearly twice what C-USA has. I'm being a realist, Aresco says 100 million and Dodd says 30 million...........the truth and what is most likely to happen, as with any story with two sides, the truth is somewhere in the middle. JMO, that middle is 40 to 55 million per year. Sure that's not what some posters here want to see they want to a low contract so they can laugh at the BE teams that left C-USA. It's not what some posters on the BE board want, they want that 100 million a year so they can laugh and say, see this is why we left. But, it will be somewhere in the middle. Everyone knows it, but no one wants to say it out of pride. It won't be as bad has some want or as good as some hope.

Not being picky but the middle of 30 and 100 is 65.

I said somewhere, not dead middle and no I don't think it will be 65 million, hence the "JMO".

If the BE contract is going to be so low with UCF, USF, ECU, Memphis, Temple, Tulane, Houston, SMU, SDSU?, Cinny, UConn, Navy, + (reported possible additions) Tulsa and UMass.

What happens to C-USA contract when it runs out??????? With the headliners of Marshall, UNT, LaTech, F_U, MSTU, UAB, Rice, UTEP?, ODU?

C-USA will be fine. We've got big markets, and we're good people. You pretty much suck, and nobody likes you. Add that to the fact that we're going to beat you like rented mules when we play, and have a nice day.
Thank you for your interest in Conference USA!
